Outbreak narratives — in which a viral outbreak spreads before being eventually contained or neutralized — sell tickets and newspapers and books, regardless of whether the virus involves zombies or evil corporations, terrorists or poor hygiene.

The Hollywood outbreak narrative is a classic because it so effectively plays on our fears about globalization, immigration, ineffective borders and invisible threats. Analyzing these fictional narratives before and even during an outbreak can help us see what to do and, more important, what not to do — like buying an over-priced mask that will do nothing to protect you

FTSE down 8% and ASX down 7.3%.

Over in New York, stock market trading was briefly suspended after coronavirus fears triggered a wave of selling.
The S&P 500 index plunged by 7% at the Wall Street open, which triggered automatic circuit-breakers to let investors catch their breath.
Energy stocks and banks were particularly badly hit, as global markets suffered their worst day since the 2008 crisis.

"His words and actions over the last few days show a president most interested in body counts and his own re-election, rejecting science and dismissing sober and serious warnings from his own public health advisers.....

....Rather than providing advice on how Americans might avoid contracting or spreading the virus, Mr Trump has suggested coronavirus patients go to work despite the risk to their coworkers and others. Rather than provide his fellow citizens with data from typically trusted sources like the World Health organisation, he has rejected its mortality rate estimates...."

Trump was part of the world government long before he was elected President so if Coronavirus is in fact a population culling exercise as some Conspiracy Theorists strongly suggest he is already one of the chosen few who will survive & has been for sometime along with Rockefeller, Gates & a handful of others.

I think it should be taken seriously but we need to stop the conspiracy theories. This is the first big one where the world health organizations have come together, and I think we have an overreaction by the people themselves. I think it is great to have the governments working together to find sensible solutions to slow the spread of this virus.
The death rate is relatively low compared to other viruses and people with other ailments are more likely to succumb than fit and healthy people, so hopefully, all our fitness levels will improve...I think it is more beneficial to work on your personal fitness than to stock up on toilet paper when your hand soap and water can achieve the same result...what did we use 100 years ago?

Agreed, well said! 😇💛
