I'm a hermit - I'm drawn to places that are repellent to normal people.Wouldn’t live on Islay. Other than a few great distilleries, it’s a bit of a hole
If Islay is out - my next best would be Foula or at a pinch - somewhere out of the way on Shetland...
Any of the smaller islands around Faroe main island would be ideal - except for the language barrier - I'm too old to begin learning some centuries-old mix of Norsk/Dansk... But seriously, I've always had some sort of magnetic thing that forever pulls me to these northern islands, and believe it or not, as a kid/ teenager, I always wanted to be a lighthouse keeper. I was born a century too late, I think.
