Why members don’t show up to these Friday night catch ups

Hey, fellow adventurers of the night,

Least evening, our circle of kindred spirits gathered for what was meant to be a casual rendezvous over drinks and conversation. While the turnout wasn’t as grand as one might hope, the quality of the company more than compensated for the quantity.

Engaging dialogues flowed effortlessly with the wise @Phoebe and a bevy of delightful ladies whose presence illuminated the room. Our gracious hostess, @Mrs Langtrees, was in high spirits, savoring what appeared to be her preferred Scotch—perhaps indulging in a glass or three. Her laughter and warmth set the tone for an unforgettable evening.

Yet, amidst the camaraderie and clinking glasses, a vision of unparalleled beauty graced our gathering. An enchanting presence so captivating that, had I been a mere mortal, her gaze might have rendered me stone. This UNTOUCHABLE charmer held my attention far beyond my intended stay, ensnaring my senses in the most delightful way.

At the behest of the illustrious Mrs. Langtrees, I find myself compelled to chronicle this encounter in greater detail. However, revealing the identity of this enigmatic jewel now would be premature. Instead, I shall pen a dedicated blog to share this tale with the justice it deserves.

Stay tuned, dear friends, for the forthcoming narrative. Until then, may your days be filled with anticipation and your nights with dreams of such enchanting mysteries.

With warmth and camaraderie,

Yoda

I’d say it’s the other way round.
Not for me - Laphroaig can't come close to Lagavulin's deep smokiness. Talking about Laph 10yo here, not Limited Eds, Cask Batches or FOL Exclusives. I own my square foot in an Islay sheep field! I guess that makes me your Laird! 😁😁😁

That’s what I love about Whisky, it is subjective. Lagavulin is absolutely gorgeous and well balanced and a safe go to every time. For me the Laphroaig 10 YO is a young expression of near perfection with its rougher pear and smoke. Especially the single barrel cask strength version I had when I was at their distillery. An yes I too own my square foot of land at Lapgroaig, and planted a flag on it when I visited in the video.

Laphroaig was an emotional experience for me. But Lagavulin had leather chairs and a fire place to have a drink which was just simply amazing.

What labels are best to look out for in the Laguvlan if the Lauphroug 10 is to be compared?

I noticed a bottle of Lauphroaig 34 was retailing at $2500, that's about $35 a shot glass!

Honestly you can’t go wrong with the 10 year old. The Select is much easier to drink if one is not accustomed YET to the smoke and peat.
These had me curious so I watched a review on YouTube, it was stated that the Lauphroaig and Laguvlan were considered entries into the smoke and peat experience in Scotch Whiskies for beginners.

I wish. I envy your journey to the land of sheep shit & barley. Not much chance (bar that 40 million to one chance of PowerBall) of me putting in a personal appearance, I'm afraid. Mind you, If I won that, I'd probably just buy a house & settle on Islay - or somewhere closish in the Hebrides. Thanks for the great pics! You must have some awesome memories The closest I can get is my virtually live-in status at La Vigna 😁

Well this thread has had me getting educated about Whisky or Whiskey, yes there is a historic reason to the added E in Whiskey. From Bourbons to Whiskey/Whisky to Scotch I feel more enlightened.

So as staunch Rum drinker I'm keen to explore Whisky in particular Scotch as I have Scottish heritage, I think my ancestor was sent to Australia for some naughty misdemeanor.

Wouldn’t live on Islay 😂. Other than a few great distilleries, it’s a bit of a hole

I do love my rum too. Just don’t know enough about it like you do.

Well I pulled the trigger today and bought a bottle of Lagavulin to sample tonight while watching a film. I'm not into glassware for drinking but use horn shot cups and a buffalo horn tankard. Looking forward to the experience.

I was going to enjoy watching a film while sampling my bottle of 8 year, 48% Lagavulin, but upon sampling I decided to pick up a book instead. Such was the reflective nature of experiencing this Single Malt Scotch Whisky. I'll savour this bottle to the last dram, you know you're in for an experience when you remove a cork and not a screw-top. It was the last bottle on the shelf so maybe it was destiny....

Gorgeous scotch you have there. But remember, once you pop the top you have about 3 months before it oxidizes.

I noticed it changing even while in the glass, yes I decided to use a glass to nose the aroma. Left a beautiful aftertaste that lasted a few hours.
