Morley Markets

It looks very much like the businesses that operated in Morley markets have all lost their livelihood due to the fire that destroyed the building the night before last. Included in the businesses’s that have been lost are probably 3 massage shops and any number of food outlets. A shame for all those affected.

If anyone on here is a regular of any of the shops that have been destroyed maybe in the future we could reach out and find out if they are setting up operations elsewhere and continue to support their business.

Cheers.

It's on the other side of the road I believe, not at the actual markets.

No it is the market itself. I drove past it yesterday lunchtime and saw it cordoned off and checked the news. Across the road is Coventry Village and behind it is Galleria.

Ah fair enough. My mistake

First police thought fire was suspicious but now it appears non-suspicious.
The shops facing Progress St are still open, so is Burma Mart on corner of Progress / Bishop roundabout. Jewellery shop next door looks open too. Other shops facing Bishop St and back end near library are all closed.
Morley Library is closed and being used as a Resource Centre for shops affected by fire. Library re-opens back to normal on Monday.
The Greater Union Cinema in Morley is closing after Sun 14th Sept. Morley Galleria is becoming a ghost town. There is hardly any shops open on level 1. The cinema leaving just makes it more empty.

There's been pretty much no food court at Galleria for quite some time. No Dick Smith/Harvey Norman in the area. Not even a McDonalds.

Went to the Galleria "food" hall a few months ago after not visiting for some time - literally two stalls open, all the rest shut down, (from what I heard the rents were quite extortionate).
There is a Maccas on Walter Rd just up from Coventrys - that burned down a while ago to, but has since been rebuilt.

Morley Market was pretty run down, didn't seem to be much foot traffic in there. An assortment of odd stores. My first thought was insurance job, but it seems not so.
