I disagree always select a 12G

Actually, I have slept several times in a shearing shed, and upon getting up in the middle of the night to 'water the horses', seen a smallish carpet snake in the roof beams seeking bats.

We left alone, and it never bothered us.

I have also spent the best part of forty years hiking, camping and shooting in the bush and seen quite a few snakes, but never had a problem with one.

We always watch for them, give them a bit of space, and they quickly move away from us.

My motto is 'Leave them alone, and they will leave us alone - unless they come into the house, then its 12G time. But, makes big holes in the lino !

Not afraid, but very respectful. Actually, I am respectful of all animals and most people as they are all a bit unpredictable. And the partners of murderers often say that they would never have expected it of their partner.

At least we have good idea of what to expect from a snake - hassle it and it will bite you - seems fair to me !

Put some phenol round the house Whether it's a true repellent I can't say but the old man put it around the houses every summer
And one of the snake men in gero recommend to people who have had snakes in their homes
It's not good for our feline friends though

Pleased to hear that Son , the truth is I drive around snakes leave them alone in the paddock but still kill the very few around the house , my sheep dog insist on this , its shoot the snack or she will try to bite it . guess who wins that one ,

Deadliest Its how we use the word isnt it I mean If asked Australias deadliest animal The first named are usually Sharks Crocodiles Box Jellyfish Snakes and Spiders
But more Australians are badly injured or killed by horses in a year than any of the above
So Australias deadliest animal is The Horse

Yep - a couple I know lost a dog to snakebite right in their backyard in outer suburbia.

I don't know why this happens - dogs are quite smart but have no brains around snakes and will keep yapping and prancing around them until they get bitten. Cats are smarter - they just put their backs up and hiss then bolt.

This is just hearsay But I heard that the siamese type cats will go a snake

But yes I lost a good and intelligent red cloud to a snake Going at the snake just as you described

yes sun.
leave them alone and all good.
around dogs is unfortunately not good though dogs won't leave them alone and they look with thier teeth

yes please...........me tooooooooooo what bank are we talking about?????????? ;)
sounds like Santa bank branch in Wonderland.........

I think the only bank in Wonderland would be the Eternal Bonk of the North Pole. It was erected, I mean established during the great depression to stop dough flowing down south. Those elves have a mind of their own.

Love Jackie's black snake above - It just looks so snakey:). I have set it as my desktop wallpaper.

By the way, according to Google Images it is a black mamba which is one Joe Blake you don't want to get up close and personal with.

The most venomous snake in Australia is actually the fierce snake which is mostly found in rocky desert areas.
