Ingredients (Makes 4–6 pies)
- 500g minced beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 carrot, finely diced
- 1/2 cup frozen peas
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 cup beef stock
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 sheet puff pastry (or shortcrust pastry)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Prepare the filling: Sauté onion and garlic until soft. Add minced beef and cook until browned.
- Add vegetables and flavor: Stir in carrot, peas, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and beef stock. Simmer 10–15 minutes until thickened. Season with salt and pepper. Let cool slightly.
- Assemble the pies: Preheat oven to 200°C (390°F). Roll out pastry and cut into rounds. Place a spoonful of filling in each base, cover with another pastry round, and seal the edges. Brush with beaten egg.
- Bake: Place pies on a tray and bake 20–25 minutes until golden and flaky.
- Serve: Enjoy hot with sauce or a small salad.
