A lot of my friends smoke too but it's not about them, it's about me and mine. Admittedly I have had Champix to help me too. Also the fact my Fiancee doesn't smoke, my kids keep telling me they don't ever want to have to turn a machine off and let me pass and the fact i have been disgusted by the smell, habit, cost and ill health it causes for a long time. I have been talking myself out of it for ages. I did quit for 2 years then took it up again, much to my own disgust,,this time it's over for good..Perthm30 you will do it one day,,don't kick yourself for any failures to stop, one day you will stop for good and that's the attempt you need to think about :)

Congratulations!

I still don't understand why you took up smoking in the first place..it's a horrible expensive smelly habit.

But yeah well done :)

Re: 15 days now since I quit smoking

Cutting down just doesn't cut the cheese unfortunately.

I understand nicotine is very addictive but what i fail to understand is why people smoke cigarettes in the first place. It's not like the nicotine gives you a good high or tastes good.

Why smoke something that doesn't really give you any form of good taste or sensation.

Sex is free but can also have side effects - STD's.

Well i hope you quit smoking for good...I have faith in you! haha

I agree that smoking is a nasty habit, I was always very self conscious of how I would smell, and yes it's a terrible waste of money.

Aaaah yes, but sex is good exercise (therefore good for our health), helps set off happy endorphins, the smell well as long as its your own healthy sex smell it's all good.
I have no intentions of cutting down lol

Tania - It sounds like you are picking on me! It's all good, I can handle it! haha After all i do have 10inches so i can handle it! haha

You post some good comments which is always positive.

I tend to agree that sex is good exercise but it can also cause heart attacks for guys who are unfit and decide to drop a viagra and bang a bird for an hour and their heart just can't take the punishment and its game over!

I sound very negative...haha sorry :)

have a great day and take care

How are you going Tania? Have you resisted the urge to light up?

Yes it is, I tried the cold turkey approach ONCE. It wasn't fair on those who have to live with me lol Champix being the best alternative and I had used it before and quit for a quite a long time. Don't ask why I started again,,a really stupid reason, any reason is stupid. This time is for good though.

Champix was great in helping me stop - bar the short fuse with random check out chicks at Coles, or when lining up at the bank, not to mention the Insomnia - other than that - awesome!

....am on Champix too and have been "clean" for 21 days.... :) .....I, too, have had some bizarre (and at times vivid) dreams.....unlike you, I still have the odd urge to light up but have resisted it. As an aside, being bored one night I worked out that if I don't smoke, the savings mean I could see a W/L every 3 weeks or fly to Europe once a year in business class.....hmmmmm, decisions....lol... :)

Stay home Fudd and do business with First Class European WL's

...and on that note, H2, I have been doing some research. Depending a number of factors, eg location etc, renting a modest 2 bed apartment over here is around $600 per month. If one was to rent out their place in Perth, an average rental would be around $400 per week. So, if one was to rent out their place and move over here & rent, one could pocket around a grand a month. As I work for myself and usually from home, its something I'm going to look into a bit further.

Ps....have been clean now for 35 days.... :)

It's been more than a month now and I'm feeling good. Definitely enjoying being able to take those huge breaths of air and food tastes so much better....I don't seem to have more money though....lol

....try again, Tania...don't stop until its done & dusted. For me, it's been 9 months exactly since I stopped but there have been times when I could have killed for a smoke. I acknowledge that, in my case, I did put on 14 kgs but have started phase 2.....weight loss/fitness regime. My goal is to return to my normal weight by 26 June 2013....exactly 1 year after I stopped smoking.

Good luck to you....fingers crossed.... :)
