biggest issue sven is explaining how you had the gun on hand. I know if I had the time to get my gun and load I would have the time to try and escape.
not saying it isnt possible but someone at the first sign of danger packs heat and uses it would normally not do well in the courts

Actually there was an old wheelchair bound guy in adelaide. ex champ skeet shooter.
he suffered a few invasions before he started getting round the house with the shotgun.
next invaders he blew straight back out the door.
took years in the courts he was extremely old and frail and by the time he was eventually cleared the stress had almost certainly ended his life sooner.

I shot a shotgun on the weekend
i think i could get used to the feeling

Hell no!!!! Test on pedophiles, rapists serial killers etc-animals are awesome and undeserving of the cruel and painful experiments they are subjected to.Besides a lot of testing nowadays can be done in many other ways.Totally sickening.

If you want to get really profound about this there is a possibility that "life" is a force which is infinite, indestructible and all-present - something like the Christian concept of a "God".

I studied Taoism for a while and the best parallel I could come up with was to compare an individual to a droplet of water in an ocean - the ocean being the "Tao" - an inexhaustible reservoir of energy. The individual can be regarded as a droplet spun off the top of a wave which, briefly, exists as a separate entity before being absorbed back into the whole.

What happens to our human consciousness on death is open to conjecture. Maybe the knowledge we obtained during our lives becomes part of the whole too while we , in turn, reconnect with the body of knowledge that is the Tao.

One thing I am fairly confident of is that he concept of an afterlife "lived" by the body and mind I now occupy is completely nonsensical. "I" certainly won't be sitting on a cloud twanging a harp or shagging my way through 50 odd virgins because all of these scenarios require a body to experience them and the one I used will be destroyed one way or another on death. Therefore any such post-death experience will be like nothing I have experienced here on earth.

One final thing I am absolutely certain of. Sooner or later, hopefully much later, all of us will find out the truth.
I love your expression of what is or what may be when it comes to life and its different stages.

In my mind I don't really believe in anything. Yet I have always had this inborn acknowledgement that there is a Source consciousness that is everything and everywhere and nothing and nowhere at the same time.

We humans and every other sention as well as etheric beings are just parts of the Source that are out in places in order to experience itself. So no matter how good or bad or ugly or what every we choose to label our experiences with. We are all part of a balance. And will sooner or later be reunited with the source.

In the mean time realising this may have us suffer less and return home sooner.

Yes..... People should be able to die with Dignity and at Peace. I for one know that god forbid something happened to me and I was terminally ill, I want my family, especially my children to remember the good things not me in pain, sick all the time or them bathing me and wiping the shit off my ass and the drool from my mouth.

Did anybody follow the story of Brittany Maynard? This beautiful young girl (age 29) had brain cancer and decided to move to Oregon to take advantage of their euthanasia laws. Brittany decided that she wasn't going to let the cancer kill her. Brittany was going to pick the time and date of her death not the cancer. The date was set for 1st November but on the day she felt ok so she delayed it for a few days. At the time she selected she ended her own life. It was her choice and she was an incredibly brave and inspirational woman.

I have seen cancer take members of my family and it is a really horrible experience. To take one's own life rather than let nature take its course still takes a determined and brave individual to actually go through with it. Human's tend to cling to hope despite death's inevitability.

I am a supporter of euthanasia and the right of an individual to make their own choice. My only concern is that some vulnerable individuals will be exploited by others for financial gain under these circumstances. I've experienced this and it never ceases to amaze me how low some people will go in pursuit of financial gain.

No and definitely not in the way most religions would have you believe. The thing what has always amazed me is the fact that time isn't a constant and can change. How do you reconcile that with human existence?

Just a point about Svengali's heavenly virgins. Why does everybody assume that they are young and beautiful. There must be many 80 year old virgins and I for one hope the jihadist martyrs meet that fate come the day of reckoning with their god.

Who's coming to Canberra for Summernats !!!

SO Basicly there is about 100,000 extra men in Canberra with hot cars and here to have Fun, I worked at a Parlour doing Reception last year over the Summernats weekend and I felt like I had run a marathon and was exhausted....lol it took me a week to get over!!!!

For those that dont know what Summernats is, Here is some info :)

Summernats, short for Summer Nationals, is a car festival held in Canberra since 1987. Summernats is held annually, usually at the start of the year. Summernats is the best known car festival in Australia, and an event which attracts many tourists to Canberra, bringing about $12–$15 million to the ACT economy.

The Summernats attendance record was set in 2005 with 119,000 people.

Summernats features many street machines with airbrushedartwork, and restored and modified cars. It is held over a four-day period, with many events, with prizes in competitions such as for burnouts, parades of cars around the track, a Miss Summernats competition, and fireworks at night.
