Short notice ones usually do come as they are in the area or been let down by someone and come..

I can completely understand why workers ask for deposits because if you organise an incall for those advance bookings it would be so deflating.

I prefer advance booking. Maybe providing incentive for those willing to put deposit such discount or free steak knives might encourage it 😂🤣
 
As punters we sometimes get this in reverse.. we turn up and either none is there or someone nothing like who we expect...

I have the reverse happened to me twice I booked in advance. Confirmed the day before, arrived at said place no show from the provider, and won't get an answer. I prefer to book in advance either a few days or a week ahead. And always confirm closer to the date. I don't mind paying deposits and so far had no problems with deposits.
Even with booking ahead, I've been in the position where the provider has changed the time of the booking on the day because of x reason and I have no problem.
