First of all... I still encourage any guys or girls who love (or are obsessed like me...) wearing heels to join the forum and say hello. We need more aussies on the forum
I think most guys like the ladies to wear high heels when there indulging in some delights LOL. I think it looks damn sexy..
A question for you darksecret23
How much practise does it take for you guys that wear high heels to be able to walk in them ?
Well I can only talk about my own experience....
I first wore my mum's old heels.. and from memory it wasn't that difficult. These were low heels no higher than 3 inches (but more likely around 2 inches). This was an experimental time for me... little did I know how much I would enjoy it nor did I ever imagine getting my own heels!
When I knew it wasn't just a phase, I went stupid and bought a lot of things from eBay. The shoes I bought (at that time) were around 3-4 inches. One was a 5 inch heel but had an inch platform. I remember just being a little unsteady in these heels (ie 3/4 inches) but quickly overcame that and I can walk competently in them now... it didn't take a great deal of practice at all.
I'm onto 5 inches now and plan to go higher (when I can afford it!!). I can walk in my 5 inch patent slingbacks just as easily as I can in 4 inch heels.. but I do get wobbly more often and occasionally have to hold on to a wall for a split second to regain balance... so nowhere near perfect. That has taken me a while. I have had them for maybe 3 months and I wear them whenever I'm alone in the house to practice.
That's basically a quick summary of how I became comfortable walking in heels. I don't wear my shoes (particularly my heels) as often as I would like to, so it has taken quite a while.
Just speaking generally now...
Women's feet are more naturally arched than men's so it is harder for most men to walk in heels than most women. Usually the process is the same for any heelers...
When I thought about my reply to your post, I found the practice involved is like the oldschool video games where each level is slightly harder than the previous one...
Level 1 / 2 inch heels - Just learning to walk at the slight incline.
2 / 3 inches - Ever so slightly more difficult... but easy to master so you move on quickly.
3 / 4 inches - Here's where you might see the challenges ahead (in the video game and in heeling). Balance comes in to play. You can actually feel your arch... so this takes some practice and some getting used to to get around at this height.
4 / 5 inch heels - With each level the challenge is greater. It does become harder to keep your balance. Your feet can get sore really quickly (when I first got my 5 inches I wore them for around 10 minutes and had to take them off... I can wear them for a few hours now though). It'll take some time and practice to get comfortable at this height... a little more each time (10 mins, 30 mins, 1 hour and so on).
Level 5 / 6 inch heels - Now I can only imagine here. But I do know your knees come into play. It becomes harder to straighten your legs, you're definitely placing a lot of your body weight on the ball of your foot now. Feet will get sore and so on. A lot of practice required I would imagine (I can't wait though
)
6 / 7 inches - Getting extreme now. Same factors just more intense. Would take a long time to master but can be done.
7 / 8 inch heels (or extreme platforms) - Not sure if this is possible exactly... 8 inches with no platform. But it would be very tough.. though again possible.
Level 8 (The Big Boss you need to defeat to beat the video game)
Ballet Heels - You are walking on the point of your toes. All your weight on your toes. Your achilles bent to it's maximum. Extremely difficult to straighten your knees/legs. Probably years of practice required!!
That's how I see it... sorry for the long post.
