If you have talent AND work hard at it you will most certainly race to the head of the pack. x

Hmmm, I guess it depends what context... You could be incredibly talented in a skill, drawing, carpentry, hairdressing...whatever really or even a psychical attribute, but if you don't learn your skill...eat live and breathe it then it just wont grow. Talents need to be nurtured with hard work to keep them current...

Some people just have natural raw talent...others work hard to be talented....both are beautiful.

Society needs both talented people and hard working people. When the two qualities come together in a single individual, that's a bonus.

thinking about arts.........I believe hard work will get you only to a certain level.......talent will get you further.
plus the lack of talents in some areas (e.g. skill of social interaction) can not be made up with hard work.

hmmmmmmmm question to add to the 'talent/hard work' debate..........and this question sounds so easy: what would you say are your talents?
Honestly I had to think about it as my talents are not presented in music, lyrics, dance and painting......... so I settle for the this one: my talent is to work hard.......... ;)

pretty simple you got both, got no talent you can't work hard at it, easy to see where your coming from..Sae in most youve got it you know how to work it.. That can be a nmb of things not just 1, i am sure you got more talent than one that makes you work hard at it, most do simple!!

Follow up Questions to add:

Who gets to set the standard of measurement of "talented"? Who gets to decide who is talented, and who is not? Is it not enough to enjoy something, and "feel" talented thorough that achievement of enjoyment?

One coexists dependently on the other. At times where one is stronger it is complimented and perfectly balanced by the other.

Also at the height of where one exists a spec of the other will be present.

Everything holds the nature of the great Universe with perfect balance and no absolutes.....

Good question. we take it for guaranteed that we recognize talent when we come across it. But at the end of the day it is subjective impression combined with cultural background.

........and then there is the talent definition of some parents who define what ever their 6 months old baby does as talented ;)

It would appear that in today's world neither is, unless one considers lying, cheating and conning as a talent. Those that are most rewarded aren't pure talent or hard workers anymore.
