I've known people who've collected HEAPS of egg cartons and used them to wallpaper part of their garage for better sound absorption for their garage band. It does surprise me because I thought most garage bands like to have it loud and inaudible.

The humble house brick, used with wooden planks to make shelves for pot plants, books and nick knacks. To chock a car or trailer. Used as a door stop or to hold the gate open. Stacked as a step or stool (when your all out of milk crates) just to name a few.

A few of my neighbours have discovered crows and magpies peeling off their windscreen wiper rubber edges for some reason. One neigbour came up with a technique around it. She uses her old stockings to cover them and voila! No more windscreen wipers damaged.
