Our lives were turned upside down when hubby lost his job. Hubby has never been unemployed in his life so it has been a shock for all.

So hubby is now playing role reversal and is coming into the office to learn more about the industry.

It should be interesting to see how well I can keep calm and not scream at him if it is wrong...

It is and can be very tough for both Ms Sue, be as patient as you can and given time things will work out
 
He He - well Sue I've been working alongside RudyBoy for a year now and I still haven't thrown anything at him! Sorry to hear the bad news (the job loss that is LOL) but I'm sure he'll prove his worth 10 times over in your domain!

This happened to me Sue about a year ago and it's a real shock when you've been employed all your life, you have heaps of skills yet suddenly nobody wants to employ you. Hopefully he settles into his new role with you! I'm sure he'll do just fine : )
 
Good luck Ms Sue. Its hard to be unemployed in the current economical climate. I was in a relationship many years ago with my boss and it was great for first 6 months then I wanted to murder him lol. I quit and took another role to save us. He found it hard to keep it all business at work and partners when not at work and would blur the lines between work and personal - as I was the Sales Manager it impacted on my relationship with my staff. But he was a man and we all know women in charge are better - cept men find it hard to let women be in control unless u don a whip leathers and carry hand cuffs !! Least u have a back up with Ms Minson!!!

Hope he toes the line !! Xx

Well when I met him the other day I thought "what a good guy" and wondered how he would put up with your daily beatings, but he seems to be getting on top of you...for a change.

Well as a person who has been made redundant twice I can sympathise with your husbands predicament. Its very hard and can sap confidence. However, it can open opportunities that wouldn't present themselves if you hadn't lost you job. I'm happy to say that after both redundancies I ended up in a better financial position. I think the worst part is the period from being told you aren't going to be retained to actually leaving. Its at this point you find out who your true friends actually are as some of your work acquaintances treat you as if you have a contagious disease. I retained a picture of my former colleagues and placed it in my study and looked at it when I was feeling a bit down. It lifted my determination to succeed and snapped me out of my depression.

A couple of months ago I met the guy I used to work closely with. At the time he was very smug at my demise but now he was telling me that he was having to sell his house and downsize because he was short of money and yes he was still working lots of unpaid overtime hours. I laughed to myself thinking about some of my employees who are earning more than he is. Sometimes life can be a bitch but on rare occasions its a joy to be alive.
 
As much as I too am having things tough - I can truly empathize for all in the same boat...

Those who have been blessed with "true" work mates are truly indeed simply as that - an aligned given, opportunistic blessing. I'm not sure if it is the agency / white collar corporate settings I've worked too long for - but I am yet to find a "friend" who is truer than most. I've worked more enough than my peers in my industry and AFAIK - it's almost impossible these days (or years) to find anyone bravely enough to lend you an ear / willing to be with you above & beyond, when things are really, really bad.

It has come to this point I'd confidently say that society only cares about you if you have anything measured in immediate concrete or utility value.

Despite of all this - "What doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger." I usually don't live by cliched quotes but this; ironically - is one that made me wonder how or why I'm still alive, given just how tough things have been last 7 months. My best wishes goes to all in times like these.

Hence I do somewhat agree with Smoggy - it's a rare but turbulent occurence to have found life, and to keep living however chaotic it is from within.

Who remembers when the wowser brigade tried to pull this Toyota ad?
It is /was one of the better ads going round
 
Thought I would give everyone an update ....
So Hubby still at langtrees however we have done a office shuffle around not healthy for Mr B to sit opposite my desk ....
He has driven a few ladies on escorts and is testing our new web site and of course spell checking everything I write...

Ms Sue, one of school's great failings is it's great strength in teaching reading/writing. I blame it for my pedantic streak (it was late at night so no-one saw me) and the desire to "help" others by pointing out errors.

My son's stroke when young and recovery with dyslexia and aphasia (word finding speach problems) has shown me that schools are ill equipped to help. They don't recognise dyslexia as a real thing.

As Mark Twain is quoted as saying: "if you can't find at least three ways of spelling a word, you're lacking imagination".
