Vocal Recording Mics

Does anyone know much about the microphones for recording vocals? I mean the ones with the little round screens in front of them that can be plugged into Mac Books.

You can pick up an audio interface much cheaper these days and the quality is pretty good. Shure SM58's are industry standard vocal mics and also well priced. Just sing right in to it (swallow it lol ...too far away and it will only pick up the highs). Can't wait to hear it !! :)

Kosmic sound, Music Park, pretty much any musical equipment shop will have them in stock..$150 would be a good price, no more than $210 though. :)

I agree with justbe, I've been using a Shure SM58 for about 20 years and they're great! In fact still have the same one I bought 20 years ago.

I used to play around with microphones when I was a roadie/stagehand. I never bothered to learn anything because I was just a s##t kicker.

Used to the old testing, testing 1,2,3 and the odd death grunt or guttural scream... went down a treat at corporate functions.

Link is broken,so has been taken down

Reminds me of the movie Spinal Tap Mr C ;-)

This Is Spinal Tap is a classic Mr D.

Big Bottom

The bigger the cushion, the sweeter the pushin'
That's what I said
The looser the waistband, the deeper the quicksand
Or so I have read
My baby fits me like a flesh tuxedo
I'd like to sink her with my pink torpedo
Big bottom, big bottom
Talk about bum cakes, my girl's got 'em
Big bottom drive me out of my mind
How could I leave this behind?
I met her on Monday, 'twas my lucky bun day
You know what I mean
I love her each weekday, each velvety cheek day
You know what I mean
My love gun's loaded and she's in my sights
Big game is waiting there inside her tights, yeah
Big bottom, big bottom
Talk about mud flaps, my girl's got 'em
Big bottom drive me out of my mind
How could I leave this behind?

That
Just buy a USB mic. Plugs straight into your mac. No interface required. About $150 for a decemt one. Look up Audio Technica ATR2500USB
That'll certainly work and be a bit cheaper. Any USB mic uses the sound card in your computer so you might want to check it's a kick arse sound card and that your Mac has plenty of RAM to process / convert the audio from analogue to digital ...be interested to read a bit more about how far USB mics have come along recently ..(lol incase you can't tell I'm ignorant with USB quality but I know the SM58+ interface will always produce consistent, reliable and very good quality recordings)
