One of the world’s most expensive and highly sought-after books will be on display to the public at the National Library of Australia from tomorrow.

The Rothschild Prayer Book has been loaned to the National Library in Canberra by Kerry Stokes, his son Ryan announced today.

The precious book was purchased last year by Australian billionaire Kerry Stokes for $15.5 million at an auction in New York, with a bid he didn’t think would be successful.

“When the auction finished he called and originally kind of played it down as if he wasn’t successful before saying, ‘we got it,’” said son Ryan Stokes.

...in a way it is, wouldn't you say Chibi??...the fact the Rothschilds would even rather auction a family heirloom Prayerbook than keep it in the family shows just how much more dedicated to personal fiscal wealth they are than honouring their faith

If you had bothered to read Nomansland's link, you would have read that,,,"it is is an important Flemish illuminated manuscriptbook of hours, compiled c. 1500–20 by a number of artists"

You would have further read - if you had bothered to do so, that ..."It was confiscated from Louis Nathaniel von Rothschild immediately after the March 1938 German annexation of Austria. After the end of World War II, the new Austrian government used legislation forbidding the export of culturally significant works of art in part to pressure the Rothschilds into "donating" a large number of works to Austrian museums, including the prayerbook, which went to the National Library".

The name they adopted for their family actually comes from the fact that in the 17th century Mayer Amschel Bauer began hanging out a red hexagram in front of their house to identify it. Mayer Amschel then decided to take the name red-schield (Rothschild in German) after the red Seal of Solomon that they used. Alice Bailey in A Treatise On White Magic, p. 412, claims that the Hierarchy has a special group which she calls "the financial group" ,,controlling all that can be converted into energy, and constituting a dictatorship over all modes of intercourse, commerce and exchange."

Turns out Ryan Stokes is in fact the Chairman of the library.

Wonder if that had anything to with him loaning the book?
