Just found out Ocean was only 18 when this picture was taken, I had no idea! That's a lot of effort over a lot of years to look like that. As a teenager it must have been so tough, when your mates are drinking and partying, to stay true to your course like that. What a champion, that's where passion can take you!

Earlier this year a friend competed in the IFBB Bikini division at 18 which she admitted was too young, and another is waiting until her 21st is over before starting prep for her first show - I think that's a wiser move! Sometimes it's important to take your foot off the gas and be a normal human being. The 18 year old never wants to compete again and has given up training completely for a few months! To be fair she was more shredded than a Whitehouse memo, that takes a toll.

On the other end of the age scale another male friend is competing for the first time in the over 40's division IFBB O'Mara show this weekend, really looking forward to supporting him. It's further given me the itch to compete, maybe this time next year :)
Yes interesting to know she is that young in this photo as she does not look much older now .

But specialises in yoga ‍♀️

Travels the world doing yoga classes mainly in the major cities New York London and Paris .

Also in bodyweight fitness which is where we met but I fell into the crew her ex boyfriend was in at the time ... heavy lifting and strongman , endurance type stuff - spartan I should say .

Interesting leap but now I’m trying to follow her path of yoga and lifting and also bodyweight combined . Add the TRX which a fellow trainer we all knew is level master and this should be the perfectly functioning human body ....

Enjoy your day !!! Xx

I also like people who say what they are going to do and follow through , anyone can talk the talk , but doing it is something different .
Yes you are nothing if all you do is talk goals and not achieve them . It’s actually more of a let down than never having them in the first place . Set small achievable goals and you should be more successful at your vision .

Really interesting, a lot of people I follow don’t do yoga (and often any form of stretching) as the tightness is useful for generating raw power. It’s the “Proximal stability for distal mobility” principal championed by powerlifters.

But that has negative real-world consequences! As an example, personally I’m currently doing seated barbell presses with 102.5kgs for 6 reps, but in the kitchen when I reach to the top shelf to get one of those little Masterfoods spices I end up in pain because my muscles are so tight and the joints so inflamed. 25 grams of garlic powder has me in agony!

It’s hard when your entire self worth is wrapped up in going to the gym and doing one more rep with a weight than you did last week. It’s not just a sport thing, it’s how you look at yourself in the mirror. So using light weights and working on stretching and rehab goes against your life purpose and it’s so hard - But I have to do it or in 6 months I’ll be so broken I can’t lift at all!

I know I’ve said it a few times already but thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences, it’s really thought provoking and taking me down a different life plan. I can’t really do much beginner level TRX exercises because of my weak joints. That alone is eye opening! The path that I’m on isn’t taking me where I want to go.

Have a great day! xx

1571533345874.png As time progresses for lifters on machines who don’t train cardio endurance etc they become SWOLE . Swollen . Like bloat . The muscle needs to be actually utilised hence functional training and stretching to accompany lifting otherwise WTF are you doing ?!?! Xxx
