Why pay anything at all. If they lied then I would not accept their services, walk away and not pay. If itā€™s an out all and they paid for a taxi, tough shit.
 
A resource like this site is a big help
However there are way too many out there doing the wrong thing
 
Was once told - during my training days - the best way to tell if someone is catfishing you is to look at subtleties within the pictures - things that someone might respond to if pointed out, like a freckle or something like that. But don't mention the location. Most people will go "oh that one, that's bothered me for years", but it's likely that a catfish will become confused and be like "oh which one" because they're not paying the same attention.
 
The big issue with catfishing for me is the amount of time you waste. I am pretty busy, so when i make an appointment to see someone and it doesn't work out, it's too late to find someone else...
 
I do think you can do some basic research to try to reduce false hits, like reverse image search on google and the most basic one, if it seems too good to be true, it probably isn't...

So I've asked them for a today picture, not one from the advert, If they don't send it I forget it
Or I ask them if the service will be free if not the same girl as the picture, some say
If you not like you can leave,------------ OK so I don't bother

Find it best to go for the verified WL Pictures.

I just don't go for the random ads... I walk into a AMP and if they have a friendly greeting and nice smile it's enough for me... just not trusting enough to contact a random number advertised really
 
Older, fatter than the pics that are clearly not them. Pics on ads often use bait and switch to lure in punters. You give them an earful and leave a review online to warn others to avoid time wasting low life.
 
I am sick of the ads that promote crypto scams of turning $250 into $50,000+ and use a billionaire or celebrity to promote their scheme.
