3 times, one of these is a double blink. Great attitude with a strong message.
 
They need to come down hard... too many old school attitudes that affect people of both sex being passed down... trying to change it from within is a nightmare that leads to brain pain (my term as psychological is a big word to type) and you are left with no choice but to leave what you love...

Way overdue. He is Lengend in my eyes. Many victims of abuse will look up to him as their hero. For his hard stance & 0 tolerance.
The Army has gotten away with this behaviour, with no repercussions.
for far to long. Most victims were most likely to scared to speak up.
Now they finally have support watch them come out of the woodwork.

I can say this with first hand knowledge as i have people close to me ithat were in the Army.

So terribly true . Such a shame the culture can be so toxic. From the old school attitudes.
 
Toxic masculinity is something all men have a role in changing, you only have to look at the increase in DV to see the magnitude of the problem at a community level.

Hmm not an increase, just more visible. Sports, military, mining, government...etc there is so much of it embedded in our culture and its all coming to light now!

This particular post and subject has struck a chord with me. Its way over due that the ADF reforms its attitudes, probably much easier for a peace time defence force to now look internally and make the needed changes.

All too easy and conveinent however to blame it on actions of so called underisable individuals, however in reality, what they wont tell you, is that the racist, misogynistic, homophobic attitudes and values, were wide spread at all levels of power within the defence force. Not just accepted but almost condoned part of the indoctrination and brainwashing that once took place as part of military training.

Spare a thought for those who served long term in the defence force and who were subjected to this and now find themselves needing to de-program themselves to fit into a society that is less tolerable of such attitudes and behaviours (as it should be).

Well said Longhair. Sadly there is much damage to repair both for those who leave the ADF and those that remain. Fundamental change will only occur when you change the culture at the top and cascade that change down through the ranks. It is a watershed moment for the ADF, lets see if they have the balls to stop the rot from the top down.
