Trick is to pick the right person to tie you in the first place
Said person could (maybe) just forget about you, its been known to happen......
I believe it's possible, and has happened. But hasn't happened to me or anybody I know. Most of the Rope Tops that I know take great pride in learnings and executing their craft and would never jeopardise someone else's safety or their own reputation by being so careless.
If someone was to leave someone tied up and negated their duty of care to another human being that person would likely be tying for the wrong reasons. Also if someone ends up getting tied by one of these people it's my very personal and judgemental opinion that that person is wreck less, careless and probably daft.... If they can't look after them selves and make good choices about who they engage with.

I am *not* patient enough for Shibari. As incredibly sexy as some of this is, it's super super time intensive. But like you see the girl there with the purple hair and rope? Her cuffs are only biting in just a tiny bit. That's super important. You can lose feeling in your fingers before you realize the rope is cutting off circulation. Blood clots can form in still blood, which when released rush to the heart or brain, get lodged, and kill you. ESPECIALLY if the fingers have turned purple or black, do not release the ropes! Always call a paramedic if the subject can't feel their fingers anymore and they've changed colors.
Remember: Informed dominance is safe dominance.

In Adelaide ten years ago I attended my first rope bondage workshop. My wife declined to come with me, but a couple took pity on me and allowed me to do this Karada tie on the subbie wife. Most fun I'd had in years with clothes on. The journey lead to my divorce and re partnering with a playmate who enjoys such activities.
I also use this tie on my trailer.

It was fun going into the scout shop or mountain designs or similar and have my Mistress measure out some rope on me. When the guy asked if we were climbers or what was the purpose, her varied answers were exciting. She often wore a tee shirt with "I like to make boys cry" on it. ;-)
