Possibly a Busy Christmas ahead for WL's in Perth

After a hiatus of several years - the US Navy headed up by the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson will be arriving in Fremantle a few days before Christmas for an R&R visit. So besides hitting up the pubs/clubs the navy personnel also like to visit the numerous adult establishments, so it could be quite busy.

Might be like a few years ago when the navy came to town ,they closed so that the girls could all have a rest .

So l assume they will all quarantine for 2 weeks like the rest of us?
As they are all fully vaccinated and have been at sea for the last 5 months since leaving San Diego - not leaving the ship, they are allowed to disembark when they arrive at Fremantle as they have technically been in quarantine at sea for the last 5 months. Same rules apply to merchant ships if they have been at sea for more than 2 weeks between ports and the crew have tested negative on arrival into WA.

Bugger, l might take a hiatus while they are in Perth then. Not. 😂

Why is it .. it feels like a super spreader event coming to Perth .. 🤔

By the way, as for shipping crew ? They are not allowed to wonder around in the community ..

In the last 2 months WA has played host to a German Naval Frigate and a British Nuclear Submarine - both were allowed to have their crew leave the ship and visit the city and undertake R&R. This will just be on a bigger scale and all precautions will be taken. It won't be good PR for the US Navy if a super spreader event occurred hence the precautions taken.

This relates more to merchant ships - tankers, car transporters and cargo ships where there are crew from multiple countries onboard. The US Naval ships have been given Federal/State permission to berth in Fremantle and for the crew to have R&R. It will also be a big economic boost as they will be taking on fresh provisions (meat, fruit & vegetables) along with what the personnel spend in shops, hotels etc. Previous US Naval visits have been a financial windfall with average spend of between $10-$15 million being spent on each visit. I'm pretty sure many struggling hospitality businesses in Fremantle/Perth will be appreciative of the extra dollars before Christmas.

So a bunch of sailors can come party but no ashes test.. go figure
Because the players etc would be coming from Sydney where there is community spread going on etc. These sailors have been on a ship 24/7 for the last 5 months - not going into a port in those 5 months, so they have been COVID free - if there was a COVID break out onboard it would have happened when the ship left San Diego 5 months ago.

first .. how you know the ship never dock somewhere during that 5 months ? they have to get supplies or something ... plus ... even 5 months ... they could have cluster between a few then slow spread between groups ... then its like tag team slowly spread and then re-infected ... then the circle starts again ... who knows ... best is for everyone to quarantine before entering this paradise virus free haven ...

The Carrier is nuclear powered so does not need refueling, it's accompanied by a tanker/supply ship and two escort ships (frigate/destroyer) - the tanker refuels the support ships. The carrier and support ships have enough food (mostly frozen) to last more than 5 months after the fresh stuff is used up in the first few weeks of the voyage. I know for a fact that this carrier group hasn't been in port on their 5 month voyage as they have been doing exercises in the South China Sea with the Australian navy amongst others and I have friends onboard HMAS Canberra who are part of the exercises.

The Carl Vinson's Facebook page suggests otherwise.

Okay - they have been ashore - but if there was a COVID breakout during their stay it would have made the media, just like the outbreak on a US ship last year before vaccines became more readily available. I still don't know what the fuss is about their visit - we are not forcing girls to cater to them and if you don't want to hang around US sailors then don't hang around Perth/Fremantle.
