In Kalgoorlie around 1992 I was dating a girl who lived on Gilberton st not far from the Foundryl hotel. Winter was wet and very cold. I was sitting in the lounge room. She came running in screaming that the local wongi mob on the vacant block across the road had clubbed a mid size puppy and had thrown in on the fire and were cooking it.

I had a girlfriend from the Philippines and she mentioned that they ate a lot of stray dogs in the Barios they called it pulutan and they ate it with beer or any alcohol. There were also a lot of signs in the areas I visited warning the health dangers of eating dogs and discouraging people from doing this. I also saw people eating dogs in China and using the fur, they apparently bruise the meat while alive to add flavor and enhance the so called medicinal properties. Haiti is a very poor country so it is very plausible they do that as well.

Some areas of Vietnam too. I once copped some meat in a meal that was unlike any texture or taste I had ever encountered in my life, which I found out later was dog.

Luckily I had suspicions and managed to spit it out and hide in a napkin and feined fullness!

I love my dog but I couldn't eat a whole one 😕

The person eating her cat was a US citizen not an immigrant. Also, she is from another part of Ohio that is nowhere near Springfield where the Haitians live.
