Agree, if both spouses are healthy and capable, then I cannot see how they could forego a bit of rumpity-pumpity (with each other) and remain happy together. While sex isn't everything, it is an important part of a romantic relationship.

That said, I can understand that after a certain age, the old libido will inevitably slow down and eventually grind to a halt, and couples who've been happily married for 60-70 years will not stop loving each other just because 99-year-old Cecil is no longer able to satisfy 96-year-old Gertrude the way he once did. But then, they would not meet the healthy and capable criteria by that point anyway.

Ahoy;- I do agree with Anastasia, there arrrrr couples out-there, who luv each other and take care off each other and sex is never an issue or part of the relationship.

my 2 cents worth is that a couple "in love" ( not love each other ) with a no sex relationship ( having a very healthy body in every way ) is having sex on the side , on the back and even in a dog style position . where ever and when ever they can :-)
 
Why do you think that prostitution is the worlds oldest profession?
There are millions of married couples out here, who don't have sex either very often or not at all.
The reasons are many and we should not try to second guess. Some relationships just dry up and couples remain out of duty, or responsibility, or for the kids, or for financial reasons.
If they are just plain lazy, that is another story.

I say thank goodness for WLs, WM, AMPS and the like. If it wasn't for these warriors of intimacy, there would be many more couples throttling each other.
This is also perhaps why there are more violent couple incidents in lower socioeconomic environments. We need our frustrations relieved and when we can't afford a professional, we react a little differently.
 
This is what happened to two now divorced friends of mine. He was a great guy and only told me this one night when he was a bit drunk and absolutely gutted so no names, no pack drill.

Boy met girl and they fell in love.

Girl was raised in an uptight religious family so no sex before marriage and boy, being of more or less similar background respected that.

Duly married a year or so after meeting and started exploring the world of sex, discovering that while girl was willing to try the hangups of her upbringing kept getting in the way. She would try anything - no holds barred - but never got off and afterwards would lie there sobbing into her pillow which made Guy feel like crap.

Guy, being a thoroughly decent fellow tried everything to get her over the line but the crying got to him and although he asked, even begged her not to do it, she couldn't or wouldn't control it and eventually it just became a chore for him. He stopped initiating sex and when she tried to start things he would avoid or rebuff her until one day he told her straight out that he was over sex and if that meant the end of their relationship then so be it.

Fortunately there were no kids involved.
 
I agree that not all couples are going to be happy with no or limited sex. Many will still love each other, but one or the other will be frustrated if one of them has a high sex drive. That is when the one who is highly sexed is probably going to look else where, even though they know they not been loyal.
A high sex..oh my ... is hard to suppress!
