Old School Acres vs Hectares + Celscius vs Farenheit + $ versus Shilling

Acres and Miles sounds better.. metric system just can not cut that...
Until its cold.
We seem to like and pick and choose
I mean so many people revert to Farenheit when its hot "Phew its a 105 today"
But when its cold we dont say it got down to 36 we say "Jeez it was cold last night it was only 2"

Probably the only formula I never seem to remember is that for converting between hectares and acres.
I grew up on a traditional 1/4 acre block so an acre is a familiar size (just needed to add 3 adjacent properties and they were quite visible as property boundaries were just picket fences at best).
Hectares now are useful to me when dealing with large area as I simply divide by 100 and obtain the square root and then I can imagine the size of the area (if it was square of course - but it's still a good guide).

Multiply hectares by 2.5 for a rough guide to acreage Mr Little
What? Me! Use rough estimates. Never!
If I start to do that for all measurements then I'd definitely err, very roughly, to my advantage.
Every millimetre counts.;)

It might have made things more interesting if they used the freezing point of alcohol as zero degrees C. Then perhaps people would stop say things like "the temperature halved in the last hour since the sea breeze came in." - because it didn't. Going for 40C to 20C doesn't halve to temperature - just the number. They don't use that terminology so much when using the Fahrenheit Scale and even less if we adopted the Alcoholic Scale. 28C = 82F = 142A.
Then again why not make absolute zero as zero then a rather pleasant day would be around 300 degree mark.

The more I belittle myself then fewer avenues are available for others to do so.

Hmmmm all this Math has me dizzy. I didn't like it once I started high school. English was more my subject. All I know is the block I'm on now is too small and I'm moving to a smaller one lol

I know if you have 100 and minus 33 and plus 2 you end up with 69

And where I live it's either damn hot, damn cold or awesome weather lol

And I'm moving to hot and humid and I'm not sure of the rest. I didn't mind it though. Fans and air conditioning rock :)
