THE former mistress to the late cardboard billionaire Richard Pratt has lost her bid for a slice of his millions.

Madison Ashton sued Mr Pratt's widow, claiming her late husband had promised her he would set up a $2.5 million trust for each of her two children, pay her a $500,000 annual allowance and $36,000 for her annual rent bill.

She also claimed Pratt promised to pay her $30,000 a year in business expenses, such as travel.

But NSW Supreme Court Judge Paul Brereton today ruled that the former high class escort should not be entitled to the money from his estate.

He said her claim failed because her agreement with Pratt was not "enforceable and binding".

"The claims were not maintainable because they were subject to her February 2005 acceptance of $100,000 in full and final satisfaction".

need to scream that safety word Because she will be really skinning that nice pelt of yours in that mood

There's a lesson for everyone in there: a verbal contract ain't worth diddly. If it's not in writing, it does not count.

Ouch

Ms Ashton has been ordered to pay Jeanne Pratt's legal costs.

Loser usually pays.

Lawyers always win.

I wonder if she knew the risk of losing? Did her lawyer appropriately advise her?

Expensive legal action over an alleged verbal agreement to override a written agreement.

Open and shut case for Mrs Pratt. (Maybe 100 to 1 shot instead - nothing is certain - except the lawyers win)
