Yeah agree with OP, too much granularity. I would consider my punting area to be Perth, (CBD, East and West) and then pretty much everything south of the River ranging from Freo to Rockingham and east to Rivervale & Forrestfied. That is split across 8 sub-forums now. Also agree that it is difficult to see if there are new posts.

Ignore that... I see since I posted it (and waiting for a Moderator to approve!) the structure has been simplified. Can't see how to delete
 
Yeh, I just wonder if perhaps the top level could be just NOR / SOR .. with suburbs under that ?
that's if address/location is so important.

however, I empathise with database structure as its never "easy" to satisfy the masses .. lol
 
I am thinking of it but where do you put Midland. The importance of the suburb in the thread title is so members don't have to waste time reading a long winded thread to find out the lady is 100 kilometers away
As to the masses I am doing this to satisfy myself...when I am happy you will know but do like to have input as I am always open to ideas.
 
I had my first business in Gosnells then Midland for 15 years 08 9274 6000/6666 and always lived on the South Side so I agree in principle, but the new add page features will go under the suburbs and over 190 Massage AMP with the legit places and they all get good business from the forum plus estimated the same number in residential houses so it would be hard to accommodate them is my thinking.Hopefully we will know by Monday as hoping the forum upgrade will be done over the weekend.
 
Personally don't see the point in the segregation, it's not like there was a critical mass of posts to filter anyway. Now it's more clicks to find the same information.

Perhaps some tighter moderation around post titles, or descriptive tags with the suburb would be better suited to the forum. Instead the issue has now shifted to how the suburbs have been arbitrarily grouped. Just on that, we've got Subiaco and Rivervale together with Cottesloe and Maylands in another?
 
a top thought never considered that before I will bring it to Ians attention on Saturday. Did you know the old style is still able to be used its in preferences in your admin its a browny colour. Rochelle and Happy 2 still use it and that might be the reason why will you test it out for me. GREAT FEEDBACK.

I am not a map geologist if that is a word and I did it quickly The north was cut into two Top and Bottom in the thread titles Limited to 50 character and when i get to India I will teach the team how to add the description with all suburbs in the title see TBC forum and you might get my point.
Now do you think that I would be doing all this work and training a team if I didn't have a plan. Happy to bet you $5 that I can double the visitors and members by xmas and Quadruple it by the following xmas.
That means 6000 visitors a day by xmas with over 1000 logging in everyday and 24000 visitors a day by the following xmas with 4000 logging in every day.
Everybody that has access to the juicy information will be expected to pay the price with 3 posts this year and 5 posts a year next year and probably have a 100 word profile with at least 50 likes a year.
We haven't updated the software for 6 years and so many new fast effective features that will be so easy for advertisers and members a like. Well Massage can put updated roster, then tweet it, with one click and Instagram it with another, snap chat or we it as well.It is quite mind reaching how far social media can travel and how quickly.
I make my writing bigger so easier to proof read and for the members to read also.
 
This is a interesting thread Flipper when i work out how I will make you a legend your color blindness comment made me finally realise what the biggest issue is the type face is to small and the colour is wrong. Can someone make a thread about the second color option available and how to change to it please. I will move this to the chit chat forum so all can view.I will find a reward for socks as he started the discussion that has nailed something I haven't considered because I have very good eye sight.
 
Oh by the way I forgot Subiaco and Rivervale in the same area Langtrees had to be in the city so the city boundaries have to be fair on both sides of the river was my reasoning...

I suggest Black is good and the normal blue one which was there in the old forum is also good. As both the colours are easily readable.
 
I believe there are too many subforums by area. I prefer the following division: general topics, NOR, SOR, regional. Midland allocation doesn't matter really when you are making the forum a lot easier/faster to navigate.

If you are talking about being able to have targeted advertisements by area then surely an ad seen by all people in NOR subforum is better value than only being seen by people in the suburbs subforum. If a place gets good reviews then people generally don't mind travelling.
 
My thoughts are "if it aint' broke, don't fix it." I mostly read the forums for fun - Lucifer or Keirolines latest exploits, a hidden gem somewhere regardless of where, etc. Still I can see the idea, I think the reduced number of areas is a lot better.
My main gripe right now is I can't see what I've read. The links are no longer in a different color. Is there a way to fix that? Thanks.
 
Biggest problem I have now is remembering to look under “Langtrees Chat: Questions:” to see the TBC and Comfort Massage daily rosters. It feels like they are in the wrong section. I would expect to find them under a forum called “Massage Roster” or “AMP roster”. Just my opinion and I am told I’m wrong sometimes
