knee replacement

Dont get those metal on metal replacements. Heard on the news (current affair) with hip replacements they were shearing off metal bits and cause grief.

Such big surgery in that area for that age!

Will you be setting of metal detectors :P Suppose if we hear a squeak we know it will be your knee lol

Metal kneecaps? Knee a recalcitrant bloke with one of those you will definitely hold his attention

rehab will be a bitch but i will stick with it cos if i slack off it will do nothing but fuck me up...

When I had my ankle reconstructed as a young Infantry digger, I had a young bloke from the Artillery across the room from me who was in for some post surgery work. He hadn't done his rehab on his knee reconstruction and had lost significant range of motion in the joint. They put him under and physically straitened his leg, then put his knee into a motorised device that constantly moved his knee through the full range of motion. As well as that, the physios would come in twice a day and make him cry.
It was one of the most average things I've seen done to a person, so your instinct is right, do your rehab properly the first time.

yeh. its scary but its needed to be done and id rather endure the pain of rehab than have no range of motion in my leg... other wise it is like why did i get it done if im not going to bother getting it done to better myself...

scared as anything but i will be a trooper

Salutes. We all here to back you up. xxooxx

thanks cock. xox means alot. i expect flowers and gold and diamonds when i wake up from surgery

The first thing you will demand when you wake up from surgery will be morphine and lots of it. When nurses ask what your pain is on a scale of 1-10 always say that it's a bit higher than it is, then they're more likely to give you something for it. As one nurse told me, your in a hospital and you should not be in pain.

Morphine,,,Yuck...When I was in hospital a few years ago they gave me morphine,,it made me sick and I really did not like the out of my head feeling either. A few days later I required pain killer again and specifically said "No Morphine", which they did not listen too and gave to me again. I was so angry and when I got my wits about me after the Morphine wore off the staff copped a blasting. There are other pain killers which work just as effectively with out the off the planet feeling Morphine gives you.

aDel look into pain relief seriously before you have your surgery and discuss what will be available to you and the effects you will feel from it..Your op will go fine. You have alot of support behind you and when your recovered you will be able to do so much more again.

thanks guys. yeh ive been told i will be in a machine that will move my knee to all the ranges after surgery andi will be given a morphine drip that is automatically given to me every now and then. and then onto oral pain killers... but if the morphine is a complete head fuck i shall be asking for something different... i think im just scared as ive not had a major operation before nor been sleeping in that state before... ive love and support and ill have plenty of books to read while im in bed recovering...

Babe we do escorts if you want to ring in we can come around and give you stimulation lolz xxxx have a good day adel lolz

aDel I am sure your surgery will go very well and I wish you very best fortune. I work in the health industry and there are several alternatives to morphine for pain relief.

Let us know how it goes- I need 2 knee replacements sooner rather than later and have been delaying the procedures for as long as possible. Perhaps when I have the surgery , you could come and hold my hand or anything else you want for that matter......!

Morphine is the gold standard for pain relief but if you can't tolerate it, pethidine is usually an effective alternative for post-op pain. Oxycodone (methadone) is sometimes used. For more chronic pain, fentanyl patches are useful. The drug is adsorbed onto a plastic patch which is placed on the skin- it is then gradually absorbed through the skin into the body, like nicotine patches. It's important to remember, post-op that even if you have no pain , to take the medication at the time prescribed as the doses are timed so that there is always enough painkiller sludging around the system to take care of it.

yeh oh dont worry i will be using the pain killers n taking them when i need them i aint that silly

I would not be surprised if you were on the self administered morphine feed Soon as you feel you need help depress the plunger
My cousins doc/surgeon said many patients actually use less morphine than if administered by the staff. As everybody is so different

yeh thats what surgeons told me im getting. and i get a private room... so everyone i want flowers sent so ive pretty things to admire while im there :)
