Is loneliness necessarily a bad thing

I think there's a huge difference between being alone and loneliness and many who spend time alone or have no romantic partner yet have family, kids, loved ones, hugs, healthy normal human interactions available to them confuse this with actually being lonely due to not having this, as they haven't experienced it or even thought that someone could be that alone.

Agreed Dallas, I actually enjoy my own company and that freedom of solitude. I get hugs and love from my adult kids. It's that 'other love' that 'other connection' which is missing, beyond repair which, for me, defines loneliness. I have appreciated the thoughtful feedback and advice offered.

I totally understand what you mean Buk, I don't have either but I do know that even if I had kids or family that I would still feel empty sometimes without that other connection.
