Is Homosexuality/bisexuality a life style choice?

Is Homosexuality/bisexuality a life style choice?

There are no scientific facts/evidence to prove that people were born as homosexuals or bisexuals. There is no such thing as a homosexual or bisexual chromosome in a person's DNA.

We all make choices in life and have different life experiences. I believe that being a homosexual or bisexual is a lifestyle choice that an individual has the freedom of choice to make in a free society.

I would like to hear from a homosexual/bisexual's perspective whether or not they can confirm or refute homosexuality/bisexuality was their own free choice.

Anyway why did you become a homosexual/bisexual?

I don't believe it's a lifestyle choice...you could be in a heterosexual relationship sure but what's the point of being miserable your whole life because someone says it's a choice? or even a lifestyle?
It's definitely chemical, you love who you love & are attracted to who your attracted to.
I personally love people & am attracted to people not gender, I don't care what's between your legs.
I could have a beautiful life with either sex. & we are not the only animals who are homosexual there are other species also!:icon_boun

I don't agree that there are no scientific facts to support the statement that sexuality is in the genes. I think there is plenty of scientific support for it.

Have to agree there - surely we are advanced enough as a society to recognise it is nature and not nurture. I don't believe anybody choses to be gay they just are.

As for bisexuality, I'm sure some people genuinely are, whereas others are simply experimenting for sexual fun.

Hasn't the whole nature/nurture issue been put to bed though (pardon the pun)...I'm sure it has been proven sceintifically that many people are born gay due to their chemical make-up....could be wrong though

It's more biological than lifestyle, after all attraction isnt learned.

And yes, im sure I've read research about chemical differences in the brain and links to homosexauality

yeah well i can kinda swing both ways on this one. while i feel what i feel for women and not men by no doing of my upbringing, i still think that in addition to that, the acceptance of the lifestyle (i'm not objecting it by any means) gives permission for the concept to flourish, where as the denial leaves little room for the concept to flourish.

am i making sense, so in a way i do beleive in the nurture not nature concept, after the before birth inbuilt genes bit has made someone who they are.

(to anyone of 'the lifestyle' i mean no disrespect.)

In my opinion most bisexual female escorts/sex workers do gay for pay or are lesbians with no emotional connection with men.
Bisexual is a possibly an experimental stage because obviously one gender is preferred over the other gender.

I believe it is in the same way hetrosexuality is a lifestyle choice. Make of that what you will. I have heard good gay friends of mine say everyone is bisexual, but I'm not convinced.

There is discourse on the subject that says if homosexuality was the accepted norm in society rather than heterosexuality, less people would want or choose to be heterosexual.

Whilst there is no definitive answer - there does not appear to be a gay gene - science generally accepts that being gay is not a lifestyle choice. Only religious fundamentalists push the lifestyle choice point of view and if they are correct then heterosexuality is also a lifestyle choice.

Does it really matter? We should all be free to pursue our own sexuality.

Maybe if homosexuality was the accepted norm in society
rather than heterosexuality less people. Period

I am a strong believer in everything in life is a choice determined by an individual's free will and has the right to make most of the choices/decisions in his/her life. The clothes you wear, the career/job you do, the food you eat, the things you buy and the friends you have in your life have been chosen by you. Even sexuality is a lifestyle choice made by you. No one has a gun held to your head telling you have to choose to be a certain sexual orientation.

The only thing not chosen by you is your family. You can not choice your family. Everything else in life is a lifestyle choice and you can choose to be gay, straight or bisexual. No one has a gun hold to your head and demanding that you be gay, straight or bisexual.

If you are not forced to do something it is a lifestyle choice that you can choose. Sexuality is a lifestyle choice, no one has a gun held yo your head. So what will it be: the blue pill(straight), pink bill(gay) or the purple pill(bisexual)?

But living a lie is one of the cruellest things you could ask someone to do? & how shallow & inconsiderate could you be to think you know what's going on when you have never experienced it for yourself! Shame on you!:ky::violent5:

Well, I think that it's all debatable...
I have a 15 y.o. son that 'came out' as a homosexual about a year ago. Many of our friends and family, at the time, found it very premature when he announced his sexual preference at such a young age, however, I know that by the ripe old age of 14, I still knew for sure that I was attracted to men!
Also, I can say, for 100% certain that I had a very strong indication that my son was going to be gay from at least the age of 3. He was always very feminine, played with all the girl toys, nothing boyish at all, all his friends throughout school have always been girls, as he could never relate to boys etc, etc.
And I suppose to top it all off, when he went through puberty, he actually developed breasts as his body started to produce estrogen. So...I strongly believe that gay men or women are born as well as made.
Either way, I'm extremely proud of the person that my son is and the mature attitude he has towards his sexuality and the public perception of it.

Lifestyle, I say that because I know people male and female that don't care if they end up with same sex partners at the end of the evening. They call it variety. They may go out to find an opposite sex match, but if things don't go that way, so be it.

Hmmm who knows? I`ve been bisexual for as long as i can remember, i enjoy males and females equally and wouldn`t have it any other way...call me greedy! lol
