I have been in the industry for only a little time.... It would be great to find out how many of the ladies know about PEP and where did you hear about it? How readily available is to you where you are located?

PEP (Post Exposure Prophylaxis) is a course of anti-HIV medications taken over a four week period that can prevent you becoming infected.

Thanks estafarr, just would be great to know how many know about it and how available it is to everyone. I have been the industry for 15 months and its not readily talked about. For instance here in canberra it says it's available at Calvary hospital (catholic hospital) but in an incident that it was required they weren't very willing at all and have given the wrong information on what to do instead.

Thanks estafarr this would be really helpful to everyone. In Canberra you can get it after hours at Woden hospital(TCH)- address for the hospital is

I have been informed that in Perth PEP can be obtained at any of the major hospital A&Es. It is free unless it becomes too regular a problem in which case you maybe referred to a pay for service center and the cost is about $1,000. Most GPs would know where to refer also. Prevention is the best option.

Great post Renee-I have read about this treatment but not sure how many people know about it. Invaluable information-thanks for posting it xx
