Some employers are very picky despite Aussies applying. Years ago I wasn’t accepted for a job because they said I was too educated. Truth be told they probably wanted someone they could take advantage of.

Definitely noticed international students worked harder and were more reliable than locals at my last job. Might have something to do with the crazy fees unis charge them.

I don't know how much it's got to do with laziness but one of Australia's biggest issues is its low manufacturing activity. Virtually nil apart from that required for domestic consumption.
