That's not true. New U and U Natural got in a bit of trouble during covid when they were caught not enforcing customers signing in. Because of that it closed down for a while while it blew over. The shop has changed hands a few times after its owner's husband died and is now run by the same group that operates pure essence and essence of asia, among others. It has not been renovated either as it is already a reasonably high standard inside.

I first visited that shop around 2016 and when I was there last, around 9 months ago, it hadn't changed. And it was always an AMP, not a brothel to the extent AMPs generally are not considered brothels. I knew the owner, who also owned U Natural (and FaFa before that) who did the original renos. Both shops did get done by the authorities and made the headlines around four years ago but that was for not observing covid contact tracing, not because it was a non existent brothel.
