Favourite perth reaturant?

Best food is Adelaide end of story....

If i eat out i go to places along Albany Highway...
I lived in SA for sometime and used to love the Yiros. I thought the Kebab of perth is the same. But it was not comparable. Yet, most of the Greeks that used to do good Yiros in Adelaide have retired snd their shops were bought by Chinese people, the new Yiros specialists with a bit of soy sauce....

I concur.. 100% agree.

Back in the day when I walked past the old Perth Entertainment Centre while ACDC was doing a sound check. It was by no means a sound proof building....😄
I saw ACDC at the Claremont Showgrounds.

They did the concert from the back of a big semi trailer.

It was a great concert and Bon Scott was rocking.

Geez I am old.👴

Okay, as a former food critic below are some of my recommendations that are open, there were so many that have closed that I loved - namely Jacksons in Beaufort Street, Mount Lawley - owned and operated by the legendary Neil Jackson and Buona Cucina Galileo, that was in Onslow Road, Subi area but alas they are now closed (bugger). Anyways below if this is helpful by order of dining options .

  • Casual Informal Dining - 3 Coins (Italian), Neho (Asian Infusion), Good Fortune Duck House, Northbridge (THE BEST DUCK AND PORK IN PERTH - don't waste the exorbitant price at Silks, Burswood - this place is better without the polish tho!).
  • Fine Dining - Gibney (a-la-carte), Bistro Guillame (French Cuisine), Perugino's (Italian), Balthazaar (a-la-carte)
  • Best Steakhouse - Fyre - sure its a trek but you won't be disappointed, Hunter & Barrell (do awesome Argentinian skewers in all meats and a great steak closed to the CBD ... don't waste your $$$s at Meat & Wine, good not great and they are priced out of the market ... ridiculous)
  • Best Seafood - Kailis Seafood Fremantle (informal), Kailis Leederville (casual dining), Art of Seafood
Need any other recommendations - let me know.

Little Bangkok in Westfield canington has the best Thai food. The best Viet you may Conventry MCQ. Best affordable cakes Dolce and Salato. The best Nachos try the Italian restaurant beside little Bangkok. The best afghani, I did not find one yet. The best Italian the same story none is perfect. For the best Yiros try Fremantle Market, but you will pay for every bite. The best lebanese food. None is. The best discoverer of humus, try The Profit. You will figure out why the little plate cost 15 dollars. The best sea food for me is the Cray in Freo. The best Italian donuts Mr Caneloni in Freo. The best charcoal chicken, maybe my next business.

Oh Buona Cucina Galileo, I remember that place. Was so good.

Great list, agree with most of the good places you mentioned and the places to avoid. Meet & Wine is just places to be seen but I have never enjoyed the meals there.

Prefer a casual dining place but Balthazaar and Gibney were very good.

Agree with your comments regarding Meat and Wine. Fortunately I didn’t have to pay the bill the twice I’ve been there as I found the food somewhat overpriced for what you got. Ditto with Rockpool at Crown. Had Amelia Park Lamb Chops there and had to send them back as they were too tough for even the knife to cut through.
Balthazaar always been a favourite. Galileo’s in Shenton Park (now called Bacco I think) for great wood fired lamb. And if visiting Denmark try the Korean Pork Belly bites at Boston Brewing … sensational.

Standard Gauge is a hidden hills gem. A Michelin starred Chef, max of 25 people, set menu that changes every day based on the best available produce. 7 courses, fab food! BYO :-)

Guessing by the name it must be near the old rail line.
