Do you take the Flu Vaccination before winter time? What are your experiences in regards to being vaccinated and not? Does it make a difference for you? Do you read any of the hype about Anti-vaccination and such, if so are you strongly for or against the practise of vaccination?

Ahoy;- I have been doing it for years, I get it around this time period.
Be warned some people have really bad reactions to these shots.

Yes, I get myself vaccinated, and since I don't get the flu, I'm assuming it works. It certainly does not do me any harm.

I'm a strong believer in vaccination generally.

I believe in vaccination but every time I get a flu shot, I seem to get sick. It feels like the flu but doctors say it isn't. I don't really care what it is. If I get a flu shot and then continue to get flu like symptoms, then to me it seems like the vaccination has failed me. Screw you flu!! You jerk!

Ahoy, This is a normal reaction, the average person will have some form of flu symptons, that will last approximately 3 days to two weeks. A few have really harsh and chronic symptons.

But I still get the flu a couple of times over the season after getting the shot. The shot only vaccinated you against certain strains of the flu. It's not a cure all. I always seem to get a different type.

Ahoy very true and correct;- "It's not a cure all."
It is only a preventative medicine; you need to keep in mind the elderly

I did get vaccinated last year. Strong like a stallion, I didn't get the flu. I don't know if it really worked or it's just a placebo. I did consume a huge amount of fruits last year.

You do know what the flu is dont you?
Ive seen people that claim to have the flu and its not even close. Ive had it twice in my life.
Functioning is not an option.
You lay in bed unable to move and wish you were dead.
Its not a bit of a runny nose and a cough

Facepalm, don't get me started on anti vaxxers!!
If I had a dollar for every time people tried to tell me my LO's autism is caused by vaccinations, I wouldn't need to work any more

Oh you mean Man-flu!!! Yes I do know what the flu is. With the whole body aches, headaches, dehydration and generally feeling like you want to die. Isn't it funny though how no matter how many times you get it, the one you have right now always seems so much worse than the rest.

Ah the good old urban myth. In these days of the Internet you'd think they would be a thing of the past
But...
How many times have you been told
Ali minimum causes alzeimers
White tail spider bites rot flesh
Artificial swretners are bad for you
all passed on as fact when any basic research will show extensive testing proving its not

I think the flu shot is necessary for the elderly & kids : the rest of us should just have lots of fruits, have good vitamins & don't let sickies cough or sneeze on you !!!!

And if you get the flu you do build up antibodies don't you ....
Or is it an old wives tale?

It's an urban legend, that tough ass called Antibodies. It seems that everytime you built up your army of antibodies and every year you still get the flu then the media reporting that a new strand of flu is coming to the west or may already be here. GET Vaccinated! i$ the me$$age. So I don;t know if your army of antibodies acquired last year is any good this year?? *pfft*

Never done it and probaqbly never will. My immune system usually does its job pretty well without any outside help. The only vaccinations I have are the necessary ones like tetanus, diptheria, polio, nmeasles, etc.

Yes, Sven, these are the important ones. Unfortunately, it seems a lot of parents these days are declining to let their kids have them. Govt should make it mandatory. The reason so many of these diseases ceased to be a problem was blanket vaccinations.

Never had a flu shot but will definitely be getting one in a few weeks. Got the flu/cold/chest infection last winter and was crook for about 8 weeks all up.
