Distance Icon Functionality

I have a question.

Most of the ads from Perth are showing a distance of over 4,000kms on the location icon.

Is this functionality supposed to show you how far away you are from the working ladies advertised location?

If so does it get your location from the GPS on your phone, in which case it would require permissions?

In the case of dev I assume it is using a location over east for location.

This is fuzzy/hinky logic.
Basically not using GPS, which is intrusive to the end user, but using IP location based on your IP address.
Unfortunately... a bit random for some phone providers, but we will see how it pans out.

Ok thanks just curious where it was coming from.

Obviously users with a VPN will confuse it.

Yes VPN users will be very funky distance wise. But if someone is using a VPN I wouldn't think they would allow some website access to their GPS either.
Actually I can't imagine anyone allowing access to GPS to any website, but then again that may just be my own personal security stand point.
