Hasn’t anyone actually been dumb enough to make a deposit or buy a giftcard? When I ask why they want a deposit they say it’s for security. How does getting money in advance keep them safe? To me it’s a clear scam and they should change their business model if they want my money.

I always ask for a deposit for outcalls in country and regional areas. 50% paid and cleared before I drive there.
In-house no.
Build up regular clients then no issues with no shows

So what are you supposed to do about no shows? Just take it?
Pretty much that’s how the industry works. Dont see anyone at langtrees or other establishments asking for deposits. You’re going to lose customers if u ask

Desposits have been around since the test of time? Weeds out the time wasters who will haggle price

Yes the ladies I see have said that no shows became such a huge problem they were losing several bookings a week. Contrary to the comment about Industry standards, they are quite common now with independents. I understand that. My Doctors practice charges a full consult for a no show or late cancellation. Some restaurants charge a fee for a booking on Xmas day. If its a reputable WL you generally don't have a problem. I certainly havent. Often its only the first booking anyway.
Having said that I would not be paying a deposit to a Locanto advertiser.
As they all say, if you don't want to pay a deposit, that's fine, just find another provider, no point in complaining.
