Sorry HotSexyBBW, charging people to enquire about services or make a booking IS WRONG.

Having been in business for many years myself, I've learned to accept timewasters, dreamers, people who want to argue on prices and people who shop around everywhere are just a normal part of being in business (whatever the industry). You should accept it too. No matter how good you are you will never turn every enquiry into a sale. But charging people to make an enquiry is like a tradie charging people to give them a quote.

What worries me (as a customer) is that if we don't all resist this sort of thing, it will sneak in and before we know it every WL in perth will have a 19.. number and be charging us to make our enquiries.

My 2 cents.

Some WLs in the past would do this, (15 years or so), so I think you are being a bit precious.
I'm certain there are some people who just get off on talking with the worker without any intention of ever booking. I don't think plumbers get too many of these kinds of calls. Any business would seek to reduce the number of time wasters, (are you saying you wouldn't have implemented a scheme if you thought it would work?), and incurring a cost is one way of doing this, (assuming there is a free method of finding out the basic info about the business). If someone has plenty of business, they don't need to worry about the few who will be put off by the cost.
I'm sure if a plumber did get a call with the person just hanging on the phone asking for a list of plumbing supplies they carry, he would hang up before too long.

Nice pic of Lilly - too bad I don't have the cash to spare :love76:

Cheers.
