Not great.... it’s 42° here & windy... We are all monitoring the areas closely. Luckily for the team here the lounge is in a defensible area & we are all stocked up with supplies

I am totally devastated watching what is happening in Australia right now with the horrific bushfires. I am pledging a donation of $500,000 directly to the local fire services that are battling so hard on the frontlines. My heart goes out to our friends and family in Oz

The smoke over the last 2 days has cleared somewhat, with light trickles of rain throughout the day yesterday. People are scared and im sure the conditions are stirring up past memories of the 2003 fires for some ,,, you cant blame people for packing up and leaving Canberra till the smoke clears.

The problem with Canberra is its the bush capital lovely in winter, when its minus 5 to 10 degrees and rainy and green, but as soon as summer hits its a tinderbox waiting for a spark. I love Canberra in Winter , Summer its awful!
 
Hoping the forecast 90% chance of 6 to 20 mm of rain on Thursday comes true and that it is widespread around the ACT and Snowy. There is a 50% chance of rain on Thursday and Friday, with a 70% chance on Saturday and Sunday.

Fingers crossed we get that rain.... I drove to Sydney today .... it’s just so dry.... it’s great they have re-opened Kings Highway.... I’m hoping to get down that way soon just to take a drive and spend some money, those poor business would be finding it so difficult at the moment.
 
A change is finally happening, The ACT State of Alert has been amended to only apply to rural and remote areas of the ACT including Tharwa and Uriarra Village.

Today Minister for Police and Emergency Services Mick Gentleman announced the State of Alert has been amended to only apply to rural and remote areas of the ACT including Tharwa and Uriarra Village.

BUT if its not one thing its another today Canberra has an extreme weather warning, with the possibility of golf ball size hail stones.
clearly mother nature is pissed about something.

I'm glad that generally Canberra escaped the bushfires. One business was damaged in the Beard fire and it seems one house was lost in the Orroral Valley fire.

The Namadgi will grow back as it has before.
 
Canberra looks really beautiful at the moment, you would never know only a couple weeks ago we weren't looking so good,,,,everything is green and the sky is so blue,,, we used our BBQ for the first time this summer last night and i mowed the lawns, its funny you know, it actually smelt like summer with fresh cut grass, mother nature is a beautiful thing really.
