Canberra Fires, Road Closures, Summernats Evacuation of Canberra Likely

Hi everyone!
An update from Canberra.

It’s still business as normal - even with some trying conditions.

Currently surrounded by several fires here in ACT with thick smoke now covering all of Canberra. All smoke masks have sold out, and with the potential for mass evacuations here on Saturday we are getting prepared for what’s to come. Australia Post has just cancelled all services into Canberra.

About 300 homes have gone just over an hour and a half from us on the coast. The coast is Canberra’s beach, and a lot of us have clients, friends and family that way.

Catastrophic fire conditions are forecast for Saturday- so the following message has been sent to my staff..........

🚨 IMPORTANT 🚨

Due to the Catastrophic fire conditions forecast here in Canberra on Saturday we are heading to stock up on supplies. I suggest everyone at the bare minimum has drinking water, and food for 7 days. We need to soldier on, and it’s business as usual but we also need to be prepared. Owners suite will be used to stock supplies for working staff should the call to evacuate come whilst you’re on shift. This post isn’t to scare you, but to make you aware of the possibility of what could occur. We need to be able to fend for ourselves as there is a very real chance that Emergency services will be spread thin. Aus Post has stopped services and it won’t be long before other places do to...... We will look after each other like we always do. 💞

If only our so called leader in Canberra could give half as good a message to all impacted by the fires
He is a national disgrace in these harrowing times and shows a complete lack of empathy and leadership

Take care all over there

Good luck, This must heartbreaking. How can you pick yourself up when you house and everything you have goes up in smoke, okay at say 30, but these areas have loads of pensioners there how can you start again at mid 60's ... truly heartbreaking.

He must be going through hell, I can only say to those in these areas, including Canberra good luck. There is a lot of dry areas surrounding Canberra and Canberra people are all too well reminded what happened not that long ago.

If it has a heartbeat save it. everything else can be rebuilt!

Trust me it's not just my opinion
I can not think of a worse primeminister in our countrys history
Spineless gutless and clueless

This is not the place to share ones political alignments, but to me The PM sounds like he's reading a scripture and after every speech or sermon he should end it with Amen... he comes over as blase as this is just a speed hump we need to get over..... I wonder if people in Cook are asking themselves today why did we vote for him...

@sparky I think Sco Mo is worse than kevin 07.
