Even though we all have different masks we wear, some part of ourselves (the bit that is common through all the masks) must show through.

So some people are naturally cheerful - whatever situation they are in.
Some people are naturally suspicious.
Some people are naturally outgoing.

You get the drift ......

So a WL (lawyer, teacher, taxi driver, ....) who is naturally cheerful will be a cheerful WL.

Yes. I think we all play different roles in different situations, some are just more different than others. To be honest, I don't know if there is just one 'real me'. I guess the one my family knows might come closest, but even there my adult self is quite different to the boy who grew up with them and they would be (thankfully) oblivious to the present dirty old man in training. Have to. When I am playing my role I can only do it well if I have out personal judgements and emotions. If I don’t and get influenced by my feelings then I don’t play my role well.

Do most people feel like they are a whole heap of different people piled into one body? Or is it those who only feel like this because they have always disguised their real nature or personality's?
So for a WL I guess an example would be that she's not just a WL she's a career woman and a dancer and a mum and a musician and a whole lot more etc....do we just adapt to flick these switches on and off in order to maintain life balance??

I ask this because I can find it so easy just to switch off and be a completely fake person and it doesn't feel like a lie, it feels completely real. Im still me, same everything, a switch has just been flicked?....

We often lead a double life, as in one situation or other we have to act a different way.
I’ve always believed our lives go on, assuming different roles and trying not to let one affect the pace of another.
In terms of sex, it will always be different when we involve feelings or when we just do it to deliver a service, so we can’t judge someone as a fake or a liar, they’re just roles we have to take on.

We all have a bunch of different personalities inside us. This is because we have a variety of different aspects to our lives.

If you never went out, but stayed at home forever, then you may have only one personality, but as soon as you go to work, then the boss expects you to be efficient, and have initiative, and give him/her good value for your wages.

Then you meet someone and they ask you out, and you believe that you have to be someone else, not Homebody or Allbusiness, because you want to impress that person.

Your brother or sister or neighbour asks out to the footy, and you go along, then you have to be somebody else, because if you remain Homebody or Allbusiness, or Sexysally, then nobody will find you interesting and speak to you.

Then you have to do the shopping, and being Homebody, or Allbusiness, or Sexysally or Footyfan will not work - nobody in the supermarket cares who you barrack for - so you have to be Shoppingsally.

Then ....... you get the drift !

But they are all part of you - even if you are faking it (Workingsally), or just pretending to please a friend (Accommodatingsally), there will be much of you in every different role you play/face you show.

Most of us can pick up or drop off a role as our interests change (new friend interested in basketball, not footy; or end of one career (WL), and start of another (Uni graduate - engineer).

You're only in trouble if you start to blend the roles when they need to be kept apart, or when you stop realising that they are all roles, but still part of you.
