Burner SIMs

I’ve gone through this same process just last week. Bought a new second 5G phone with dual SIM capability that had Android as the OS. Some apps aren’t available with iOS.

Purchased two prepaid SIM cards to trial coverages on 5G.

Using my ID is never a problem as this second phone is purely to have another number and email address that protects my personal ones from spamming and scams.

If you’re not doing anything shonky using your ID to sign up a second prepaid SIM shouldn’t be a problem.

The benefits of having a dual SIM phone is having one SIM that may be good value for call/text and the other SIM might have better value for data.

I now have the best of both worlds, my iOS phone for ease of my everyday private life then the Android phone that allows me freedom to do other activities that I want to exclude from my good phone. Like setting up a quarantine phone.

The Android phone because it will be run on prepaid cards, if I don’t wish to use it for a while, I can just shut it down then recharge the SIMs when wanting to use it again.

You only need to be concerned about using your ID when activating a SIM if you conducting anything illegal which is just stupid.

Where do you guys get your burner SIMs?
There are apps that allocate disposable numbers or emails otherwise get basic prepaid SIMS from any provider shop, supermarket or servo.

The apps become a problem within themselves for your privacy.

i think it some people feel like its dodgy or convert when people call them burner phone/sims. very drug dealer or spy ring.
theyre just prepaid sim cards, you can get them just about anywhere these days if its just a second number for WLs etc.

you have to have id to activate it but like WildBrumby said, if its not for anything illegal its fine. noone can access the data without official cause anyway. i used to work in telco and people would get their asses handed to them if they looked up an account without a reason to

Just block the number so they can’t call/message u and unblock as needed.
In aus you have to provide ID no when signing up for a sim so it’s same same but different.
If people here have partners they are wanting to hide their movements from then blocking can be a problem.
Partners can access blocked lists and call said numbers themselves so it would be easier to grab a cheap phone and prepaid sim.
Delete any messages and phone registry each time just in case that phone gets discovered too

If one lives that kind of life, I would say punting is not for them sadly

The answer is get divorced !

But I am still discreet, however if anyone discovers my punting, I'll just smile and say in my best Maxwell Smart voice: "And __ lovin it !"

Buy a new sim card and activate prepaid for 7 days or whatever and slot it in on a old phone you rarely used.

I’ve been trialling Vodafone and Optus 5G on a twin Sim Motorola to see which has the better coverage.

I’m already with Telstra so wanted to try the other two main telcos. Vodafone appears to be best value and coverage for me on 5G along with a user-friendly app that is easy to maintain the SIM.

I will probably keep the Vodafone SIM active then use the other slot for a memory card.

I live in a signal shadow of a hill that mostly blocks the Telstra mobile tower.

Eminem can rap faster than my internet speed.

I’m trialing 5G which Optus was supposed to be good for but Vodafone is by far better, different towers.

Telstra is installing another to cover the blackspot.

Aldi mobile do a cheap sim $5 upfront purchase and then you recharge on top. I use a $15 recharge and it is valid for upto a year before expiring. txt at 12c and calls at 12c/m mean it lasts ages. I don't use it for data so no need for 5G but it is 4g which is fairly fast anyway. Runs on Telstra network so never had any coverage issues. Currently in an old android unit running anicient software, going to "upgrade" soon to an old Iphone 5. iI is just for calls and txt so doesn't need to be very special.
