Brothel prohibition by stealth?

I don't imagine that Morrison would be in any hurry to support anything that doesn't fit into his moral framework.

The fact that they listed it specifically as being excluded seemed somewhat suspicious.

And especially since there are only three stages. If we have no community transmission, then there should be no issue, right?

This basically means that there is, AT LEAST, three months that sexworkers have to survive this shutdown with no financial support. from the govt.

Oh no, this won't drive any of this underground and make things even more dangerous for workers and clients.

It's like the total inconsistency in the CovidSafe app reasoning. If we only need to worry about 15 minute+ contacts (those are the only ones tagged), why do we still need to separate 1.5m at the supermarket? I'm not near those people for that long... There is more at work here.

It is interesting that they're allowing gyms to open in stage 2 (people sweating touching equipment etc) but a bar can't open until stage 3.

The fact that brothels and strip clubs are explicitly excluded is indeed really suss. Has there even been a recorded cluster where an adult venue was the source?

This has all gone way too far.

Thankfully the states have autonomy to reopen as they see fit, and realistically I think what we are seeing is a worst case, international borders are gonna be closed until at least December,

I reckon even longer for international. Interstate im hoping I can at least take a trip to QLD this year.

I think the plan is to close a lot of the AMP's that state authorities might deem not to fit COVID-19 hygiene regulations - showers on the premises etc, which most brothels have. So I think operators just have to prove that they can operate hygienically.

I heard that massage places are going to be alowed to open but will need to keep a register of clients !!!!!! Like thats going to work.
I guess they are talking about legit massage places but itcould be a grey area

Might be similar to what they do in Singapore - locals have to show their ID card, tourists have to show their passport and sign in on a registration book.

I read that in Singapore you just needed to write the id or passport number in the book. No actual check of id. Said books entries may not bear much resemblance to actual patronage.

If this is going to be the case over here I would expect the married punters would be a bit gun shy to say the least 😬

So WA has now announced 4 phases... Would massage parlours and brothels fall under the "personal care services" in phase 3? :)

Going to get a lot of “Donald Trumps” visiting then, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW , Washington, D.C....in case anyone else needs it.

Im looking forward to seeing if any of these bars and restaurants are even able to open with a 20 person limit.

I think it can be done. If you put a time limit on people. Say 2 hours, to have a meal and a few drinks. Each person would spend $50+ in that time. It may well be viable. It will be interesting to see.

Interesting but NZ allowed strip clubs to reopen along with restaraunts but before churches and ministers felt the heat as they were asked to explain, I don't think it was prohibition by stealth, just avoiding difficult questions being asked if the media thinks they can spin a story from it.
