Firstly I would not call them cures.
One of the important factors is if the person has thoughts or plans to harm themselves. There should be no shame in this either. It just prioritises the first point of contact.
But there are many support and treatment options available for mental health. Recovery is achievable
Mental health can be an array of conditions. Ranging from Depression, anxiety, psychosis, and bipolar to schizophrenia.
We are not skilled or trained in diagnosing. Treatment options vary per condition and your GP is the best first point of contact. They can do a mental health assessment and refer someone to a psychologist etc

The SA Health Mental Health Triage Service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This service:

  • is the main point of access to state-funded mental health services
  • can provide advice and information in a mental health emergency or crisis situation
  • is staffed by mental health clinicians
  • will assess and refer to acute response teams where appropriate.
If you feel that you may be in need of mental health support and have never accessed a mental health service before, please contact your general practitioner or phone our mental health triage service on 13 14 65.

Beyond Blue
No appointment is required, you can call 1300 224 636 to access this service any time. This service operates 24 hours/7 days a week and is free.
