Just wondering what everyone's thoughts about Amsterdam's Red Light District were and whether they were disappointed in what they saw...

I've been to Amsterdam a few times and returned from their a few days ago and noticed that the red light district was very poor overall, maybe it was because it was winter over there but I think the Dutch government are slowly clamping down on things in Amsterdam.

What are people's thoughts on Amsterdam?

Here are some pics of Amsterdam I took :)

Amsterdam...Not that I've been there the only thing I can think of is legal cannabis...cannabis cookies and cannabis lollies and cannabis cakes by the local bakery. And the Heineken museum.

I do read from somewhere though; as part of travelling etiquette - that mobile phones and cameras are not absolutely not allowed in the red light district. Read an online article story somewhere that a tourist's mobo/cam was grabbed and thrown off to the canal.

I've looked at all your photos and can't see a red light anywhere.... :)

Like to go and experience it.

isn't that where you get to put your finger in a dyke? :)

Let the red light shine on and on and on... through out the world.

It would be a dull place if everyone compared holiday notes and only had stories of how nice their hotel was and how lively or dull the rd light district was
I mean I just come back from holiday and even saw a bit of the country I was in

Ahoy;- OK "what in Amsterdam?"

Anne Frank House (Anne Frankhuis) Anne Frank wrote her diary during the Second World War. For more than two years, Anne Frank lived secretively with the other people in hiding in the back part of her father’s office building;

Van Gogh Museum The world's largest collection from the Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) features more than 200 paintings and 600 drawings.

Sail along the;- Prinsengracht, Herengracht and Keizersgracht, three major canals that shape the city.

Ahoy I do agree with Bro H2;- " You look better without the comb over Wayne"
So that what you look like;- Wayne Kerr????? and I do agree very cool Clog
Ohhh well Wayne, you got bold before you turn 40, I guess you will not be head banging to any Heavy Metal bands in a hurry LOL
In my case Wayne I am happy with the idea that I have a few teeth and one eye LOL
Cheers Bro and Pass the Rum

To blend in with the locals don't forget to wear a snazzy pair of clogs

I thought ladies look gorgeous in red light district! I was impressed how many Eastern European ladies working there. To be honest Amsterdam was never my favourite destination in Europe.

Where was your favourite destination??

I went a few years ago and enjoyed my time there but it was just a bit too sleazy for me and the food around the red light district is terrible ! I believe it is getting worse every year as more and more windows are getting shut down. The hey days are gone , i believe they were the 90s
