What is Your Experience With Doctor STI Health Checks

Today I went to the doctor to get a health check done. We discussed what tests were required and just before I was about to go to pathology, I asked him for a letter to say that I had attended the practise for a STD/STI screening for my escorting agency.

and he didn't want to write it.!!!! he said "what if you just take the letter and don't get the tests done?" he did not have faith in me to walk to the other side of the room to pathology. He said he would give me the results but no letter.

I told him firmly that it was not right what he was saying, and insisted on my letter. Which, he begrudgingly gave me.

He told me condecendingly to do the tests " for my self".

....Perhaps liaise with a female GP? What seems clear (to me) is that he might not be comfortable after hearing the fact that you need a letter of proof specifically for an agency. Considering the fact that he is happy to give you the results; but not to write you the letter.

Or perhaps better yet - shouldn't Magenta have their own clinic for this purpose? I know from experience they're a nightmare to deal with when trying to make bookings but at least they are known to be comfortable with this at the very least.

I have up to four different doctors / GPs whatever consultations as I need it. This day and age I'd be careful for only having to trust from just one set of opinion.

OK Vivienne the Dr gives you a letter saying you were tested but surely your employer would want to see the results when they come back .

and please dont give me a rocket I just want to clarify what was your issue with your GP

FB2 I think the results of any medical tests is a personal thing btwee the doctor and patient .All the employer has to know is if you are classed as being medically fit by the doctor,to continue working .

Obviously not if you are employed in the adult entertainment industry what would be the point of turning up with a health certificate to show your physically and mentally fit to work but have a host of STD's not listed because its personal information .

if you have " a host of STD's" you should not be issued with a health certificate saying you are fit to work .And any doctor who certifies you fit for work knowing you have " a host of STD's " shoyld b lose the right to be a doctor

Many people are working in industry that require a medical examination , I have one every three years ( MC license ) many things are tested many questions asked now I haven't got a STD but I will bet any thing some truck drivers have and still pass the medical .

Examples of medical disorders that may affect your suitability to hold a driver's licence:
  • ADD and ADHD.
  • Alcohol dependency.
  • Alzheimer's disease.
  • Arthritis (chronic) and other joint problems.
  • Dementia.
  • Depression and other mental health problems, like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, psychosis.
  • Diabetes.
  • Drugs: illicit/prescription and over the counter.
  • Epilepsy.
  • Eye problems, like glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration.
  • Fainting.
  • Fits.
  • Giddiness.
  • Heart disease.
  • High/low blood pressure.
  • Injuries and physical disabilities, including limb amputation and partial or complete paralysis.
  • Lung disease.

  • Parkinson's disease and other neurological disorders.
  • Sleep disorders, like sleep apnoea.
  • Stroke.
Note: This list is not exhaustive.

STD's not there

Question to all the w/l's as well as their agencies.

Would there be any benefit or would you prefer somebody (a pathologist) to visit your place of employ in order to conduct regular STD/STI screening?

From what I am reading in this thread, this arrangement may suit both the agency as well as the w/l - or do you see this as a private matter between the doctor and "patient"?

I'm a bit confused too. I would have expected that LT (or any other sex work employer) would want to see a letter certifying that their employee does not have an STI. Cannot see any point in something which just says an employee attended for screening without giving any indication of what the results of said screening were.

Or is the onus on the employee to 'do the right thing' and not work if her results are positive for something nasty? That sounds naive and silly to me.

All std positive results are reported to state health dep by lab and doctor by law and said positive person is then contacted by health dep and sent forms to be filled out re who they could have passed the infection on to ,
some are taken more seriously than others ie antibiotic resistant gonnerea or hiv etc etc so confidentiality is out the window and there are criminal penalties for all parties that compromise public health

I just go early & then get my test results back for my own sake ... I know the doctor is only thinking that you may be not wanting to take the tests because you have some silly reason ... Who knows ?

I have found a fantastic female doctor in my area who has no problem writing my letters and allows me to get a pap smear every three months (swabs etc) Instead of just the blood and urine. I mean, she is naturally curious but she compliments me a lot and thinks I am the most exciting client she has ever had haha.

Guess I beat the clients with sniffles and headaches :p

Viv, I can only recommend Magenta........a health service looking after w/ls......discreet, professional and a nice atmosphere......you can talk/ask about everything........no embarrassment or awkward situations.......no charges for the examination......a shop full of "goodies" you need for your job to a very reasonable price. I love it there. I did have my fair share of awkward STD checks before one of the girls recommended Magenta......no looking back.
