I have been using a i phone that had the code broken sometime ago. i have been using a vodaphone prepaid. with getting my computer all fixed today I thought I would be good and update all my updates. i did it for the phone forgetting that a prepaid is not compatible.
When i turn on now just shows no service and the i tune plug.
Desperately need to get working by tomorrow and haven't been able to track down Aaron.
If you can help please call 02 9331 6933 Room 1307 Mary-Anne K Call anytime.
I will love you for ever if you have a solution.
If you don't I will love you anyway.

Hi MaryAnne, you need to restore the phone via iTunes. There is a restore button on the summary page. This will not however restore the jailbreak. Its not so much that the phone is prepaid, but rather the new iOS is not yet compatiable with jailbreak :(

It will restore the phone with the latest version of iphone software (iOS 4.1)

This should get the phone working again, but without the jailbroken features.

I wondered why I wasnt able to get you on the phone today.

What amy said is the right option. You will lose all the data on the iphone when you reset it. But you will get it back with factory settings. After connecting the iphone open itunes and click on the iphone icon on the left. In the summary section you will find reset button, just below update button.

You will lose all the data, but given you updated it before it stopped working, it may have done a back up which you might be able to use once the restore is done. Usually after a restore, if iTunes has any backups it will give you the option to set the phone up as a new iPhone or restore from a previous backup. If it gives you this choice select restore from backup. It wont restore anything you had on it though from the jailbreak (ie any Cydia software) but should restore all your contacts and apps. You will probably have to readd any music/audio etc.

If all else fails, take the phone to the Apple Store in Sydney to the Genuis Bar and they will restore it for you.
