24 hour places in perth? thats not the casino?

I'm in two minds about this - sure it'd be nice to have a wider choice. But over the years I've seen 24 hour places come and go. Even late night places.

Why? Because there's not the population or nightlife activity to support it. It's happening albeit slowly. The people who usually want to eat are the Burger and Kebab types - and there's heaps of that around. There are quite a few McDonald's and Hungry Jacks around that are 24 hours now. Heaps of late night Kebab shops.

But the ones that used to be 24 hours - Hamburger Hill, Hamburger Haven (anyone remember that?), Bernies, Eats, Van Eileen's, Captain Munchies tried 24 hours and couldn't sustain it. Real estate rentals, housing, town planning and late night robberies put the kibosh on it all.

Anyone who wants to try 24 hour places at the moment is still looking at going broke for at least another 5 years 'til the population warrants it.

That's what we are missing in Perth, just a place to have a light meal if you wake up in the middle of a night. I always get week days off and sleep all day and by 10pm everything is closed down, not much of a day off.

Alfred's does great pea and ham soup as well. I like going there once in a while at night - the smell of the firewood and the cool air and greenery. Good burgers - not great burgers but certainly good. It's rumoured that Langtrees sells furburgers 24/7/365. Great atmosphere - both places.

Near Langtrees, next to the Gull petrol kiosk and Amcal Chemist is a 24 hour place along Great Eastern Highway and it does reasonable hot food, burgers are pretty good. Can be a bad habit buying a burger after a late night shift all the time but that's a personal choice.

Really depends where you live - am not sure if there's much down Rockingham way or Butler. That being said, I do know youngsters in the 80s who'd drive all the way from Bunbury or Albany to Perth to get a burger at night. Ah, simpler times!

I'm a little bit unsure about heading to North Bridge @ night .. Not really my kind of place to chill out. I have been to a few of the restaurant in North Bridge during the day and the food is great. I will try the cafe or go hunting for those secret little places xo

Some of the Shell and B.P.servos open 24 hours and make a serviceable cuppa. Otherwise, an electric kettle only costs $20.

Ah, yes! You could be right Contrarian.

In that case, fork out another $30 or so for a microwave and lay in a few quick and easy frozen snacks.

There's this place too and if you live in the surrounding areas, delivery is free.
And it's 24 hours!

All Night Pizza Cafe - 714 Albany Highway

Its a pity there aren't more places that are open 24/7 in Perth, like over east! Perth why are you so behind the times HAHA!
I always think of Perth as a big country town when I have been travelling.
Don't get me wrong I LOVE Perth but I wish we firstly had better shopping (shopping is always the most important think to my shopaholic self) and secondly that things were open longer and with more variety.
I know we are slowly catching up but it would be great if more of the strips like Leederville and Mount Lawley were open late or 24/7. Not just Northbridge which seems to widely be accommodating for the party people. Northbridge doesn't appeal to me anymore, I'd prefer a cafe/restaurant strip or something a little less nightclubs but still fun and vibrant.

Oh yes... having lived in Asia most of my grownup life,
I do hate the fact that the shops close so early in Perth.
Most places I have lived or travelled to have shops opened from say 10am - at least 10pm...
Even in Italy, we open at like 8-9am to like 9-10pm
(OOPS forgot to say some shops close from 1pm-4pm because the Italians take their lunch breaks seriously!)
But most department stores & big stores open throughout the day till late night!!!

And Restaurants in Perth - Don't let me start!!! -
call in or call them at 8.30-9pm they go like its the LAST orders...
(Only in Perth's sad excuse of a CHINATOWN, you can get a meal till 4am)

In the civilized world, Folks go to the Movies/Opera & it finishes at 9pm-9.30pm
then you go to the Restaurants to have a nice long chatty meal with your friends.... getting home at 1am...

Tell you what - Perth has improved 100% in the last 10 years ... so I cannot complain
(still cannot get my Asian friends who arent gamblers to come visit though!!!)

Last time I walked into a Dome it was about 8.20pm. Guy told me they were shutting up for the night. But on the door it said they're open till 9pm. It was empty but I think even if that's the case they should stick to their official trading hours.

This thread dates to 2013.

Six years later and not much has changed has it? One thing has slightly but even that after midnight probably isn't that available and it's Uber Eats.

Anytime Deli in Burswood opposite the petrol station does make great burgers and has some nice snacks though. Shame they don't have anywhere to sit down but I guess 'cos it might attract undesirables.

This thread was written 11 years ago. Has anything changed? A few more grill burger places and that's about it. Crime's getting worse as is the drug scene. There's an environmental price to having a bigger population - how much more bush can we carve up? People in Perth are going to have to get used to paying $500,000 for townhouses and apartments in Perth and its surrounding suburbs.

You want landed property? Move to South Geraldton and get a larger mortgage to strain your marriage, relationships and expenditure on transport even if it's buses and trains.

Yes,yes and yes!
It’s astounding and mortifying how rapidly the decay has been. Social, cultural, financial, moral etc.
Th homeless and helpless in the city and inner suburbs is disgusting.
