So i heard the other day that playboy will not be having nudes in its magazine anymore!!!

Someone said (i think on tv) people dont go to McDonalds for a salad then a friend commented guys dont go to a brothel for a hug so why would anyone buy a playboy magizine for the articles???
well actually people do go to maccas for a salad and ive had clients come in just for a hug and a chat so as shocked as i am i do think people will still buy the magazine for the articles.

What are your thoughts on this?
Do you think the iconic PLAYBOY will survive?

P.S
I think they should keep playboy as playboy and Zoo as Zoo perhaps it doesnt need to be put in supermarket shelves but they have to tone down the sealed sections in teen magazines!!! its more x rated than playboy and zoo put together!!!!

The very first girlie mag I purchased (as a 13-year-old -- that newsagent should've been locked up!) was a Playboy. Since I lost my W2P virginity to that publication, it holds a special place in my penis.

Of course, it is ludicrous not to have any nudes in the magazine that introduced that innovation and I have no doubt it will simply accelerate its demise. Instead, they could have amped up the glamour and classy erotica look perhaps to differentiate their pictorials from run-of-the-mill online porn. Ogling celebs who 'revealed all' in Playboy was also always more satisfying than watching sextapes.

Would that make me buy it though? No, because I haven't bought a magazine of any kind in years and that's the crux of the problem: most paper publications have declining sales and the focus should be to compete on quality in the online subscription market, while maintaining a hard copy presence on newsstands. For some though, a magazine still serves a useful purpose in preference to viewing the same images online: ejaculating on your iPad requires more clean-up effort and may void your warranty.

Sure way for Playboy to die. And I don't recall ever buying Playboy for the articles, LOL.

Too much free porn on the internet to jerk off to these day.

Well, I certainly learned how to use my tool thanks to Heffner's rag. :D

I suppose the female equivalent would be Cosmopolitan with their coy sealed sections?

End of an era for sure - Playboy, so many memories:)

But the reality is with the ease of access to electronic media Playboy (and other publications)are becoming out-dated

The developing male teenagers will just have to spend more time on the web.

I spend a bit of time on a forum dedicated to Playboy Link is broken so has been taken down and the members there are unanimous in condemning this move. Hugh Hefner no longer runs things there and the new management hasn't a clue about the product. It seems to me that the no-nudity policy was driven mainly by a need to have their various websites more readily available to search engines like Google which filter out "adult" content from searches. Lord knows how they think this will help as Playboy without the Playmate is a bit like a steakburger without the steak.

Mind you the Playmate content these last few years has been nothing like the Playmates of the past - those were real "girls next door" photographed by the likes of Arny Freytag, Jarmo Pohanjemi, and Sasha Eisenman. Nowadays, with a few exceptions, it is fashion snappers like Josh Ryan and Michael Bernard taking photos of scowling or blank-faced fashion models.

I will give the mag a year at the most because the existing readers will desert it much faster than the new target market (whoever that may be?) will take it up.

I'm sure young boys will lose their ability to fantasize use there imagination if porn is now so readily available
Sneaking off with big brothers Mayfair or Playboy was exciting And the mags harder to hide if you heard someone coming
Far harder than hitting a button on a I pad or such

Yep, a young bloke jerking off to what that woman in the magazine must feel and smell and talk like is all but gone. Now it's free hardcore porn in the form of group sex, facial compilations and gaping creampies to quickly rise them to the rank of black belt in hand-to-gland combat. And the expectation to perform such feats lies with the young girls a year or so later as the boys expect fantasy to become reality - for hardcore becomes their norm very quickly.

Excuse the ignorance, but for how long has PSE been a common extra in the industry? Would there be a knowing link to the increase if accessible porn over the years or has it always been available for decades? (Geez, I must be thinking too much, time to sleep :joyful:)

Another nail in Playboy's coffin:

I just had a look online at the first two editions of the new "safe for work" non-nude Playboy and it is a crock.

First non-nude "Playmate was one Dree Hemingway (who is related to the late Ernest) and she was presented as a dishevelled and stoned-looking refugee from crack alley. The next model who went by the name of Camille was a stunning fashion model elsewhere on the web but on Playboy's cover she was also photographed looking spaced out as though waking up with a hangover.

I don't know what the new management hopes to achieve with these changes but if it is to close the magazine and trash Hef's legacy they are certainly on the right track.

Now the Playboy Fan Forum also appears to have died so I guess the end is nigh.
