Paddles or ?
Greetings cacatous,& others,
A quick visit to your local Kiddy type toy store, will produce a wide variety of implements for this purpose, I have found some very strong plastic implements with semi-rigid plastic on one side and the hook part of Velcro on the other.Heavy duty ping-pong style paddles and a "rounders" bat (like a tiny cricket bat about 18 inches long over all).
Then We have instruments like the sole of a worn out tennis shoe, a wide-leather belt (from the op shop), And of course the home-made variety***.
A sheet of 3 1/2 mil. leather some gasket rubber and a handful of leather rivets and finally either some velvet or some suade .
Using a good quality contact adhesive, cut the leather to the desired shape including the handle, cut the gasket rubber to the same shape, glue the 2 together, decide which you desire as your impact side the leather or the rubber, punch the holes for the rivets in whatever patern you decide, and put the rivets in. Next glue the cloth or suade over the the bit you decided was not the impact side, remembering to cut it to shape including the handle. wrap the handle in tape of your preference (I like the heavy-duty canvas tape).
Now you have a simple paddle that has a "Gentle" side in whatever fabric you decided and a "Sadists"side with either leather or rubber and roudhead rivets.
If you are planning to use the "Sadist" side do remember to "Warm-up" the area to be paddled, to NOT do so could result in "Deep" bruising which can take weeks to recover from and can cause permanant damage with "Deep tissue scarring".
As for whips, oh how I love a good single tail and the welts they leave can be altered according to the tip that is used. My Mentor would not allow Me to use a single tail until I could demonstrate to His satisfaction that I could hit a spot the size of a 50cent piece at maximum range 20 times in a row , if one missed then it was start from one all over again.
Of course a whip like a cane is used towards the end of the play when all the areas to be struck are "warmed-up" to a reasonable depth.
Even floggers can be fun but like all tools need to be used properly and with the apropriate safety precautions taken
Do have FUN
