Well the time wasters can work the other way too.
As a punter I have messaged a W.L to organize a time etc as I have a bit of a drive to get to their location, some only reply once with no more details then their advert, not to make a time to meet up, I ask what times suit them due to other client's and then they don't reply, so I don't bother as I am sure others are happy to enjoy my cash.
Sometimes I have reached their location, messaged them then ring them with no reply and about 10 mins after leaving they send a message as where I I am with the boilerplate apology that their battery died. I tell them that I waited, have found another option and thanks for wasting my time.
 
Timewasters in this and any industry are a pain in the butt.

However I have picked up afew clients from what you mentioned above they have booked someone else who has either cancelled when they arrived or stoped responding to messages! So it has worked in my favour.

I would say I get atleast 1 non genuine booking a day when in working, that don't show it's frustrating but it is to be expected.
