The power of a hug...

I just wonder about the veracity of MadameX's post. 4 hugs a day for survival? I'm sure there are plenty of people walking around perfectly alive that get less than 4 hugs a day. Let alone 8 or 12. Most times I can go 4 days without any physical human contact at all, even incidental, let along a hug. And I'm still alive and kicking.

Not to diminish the obvious enjoyment it appears a lot of people get out of hugs. But colour me sceptical is all.

Me too, user184. :(

Maybe we're the real world walking dead. :zombie:

We're on borrowed time. I think 4 per day must be an average over our life time. We must have had lots of hugs as young'uns to have survived this long.

Any way we are Aussie men All we need is an occasional handshake and if we're really close a light hand to the shoulder region for up to a second maybe 2 if your really long time best mates who haven't seen each other for 2 years

A therapeutic hug should last for at least 30 seconds to achieve maximum benefits to both giver & receiver. When you count it out that's quite a long time. So step up folks and lengthen your hugs for the best endorphins hit.xoA

Yet I recall a study showing most people are uncomfortable in a hug after 7(?) seconds
More outgoing people maybe longer self concious a shorter length of time maybe

Length of time depends who I'm hugging. I've been known to hug my favourite W/L for an hour....okay, well maybe not quite that long.
